I'm running SMF 1.14 and notifications seem to be working fine. The default behavior is that a user gets notification for a board or topic on the first post and then notification is disabled until they read the post(s) and then it starts up again. That seems ok, but it only appears to work for topics. So, if a thread has a number of replies, and a new reply comes in, there is no email notification, even if everything is marked read. We tried various combinations of the four settings to change the behavior. We have a light forum and so flooding is not a real problem. Is there any way to simply receive notification all the time for any post, whether it's a new topic or a reply to an old topic?
I tried searching this forum for a similar request, but if it's there, the search engine sent me back too much to wade through. A simple pointer to any existing threads on this topic would also be appreciated.
Another quick note. We do understand that if you click on Notify for a given TOPIC, you will receive notification of all replies. People with iPhones, etc., would like to not have to navigate to the forum explicitly to get that behavior. We would just like to get notification for all new topics and all new replies to old topics by simply clicking the Notify button at the board level.

In a word, "No" (At least, not that I know of).
You can put every board on "Notify", by going to the board and clicking "Notify", though, if that helps.
You can do the same with topics, themselves, I believe.
Even then, I doubt you'll get notified of EVERY post.
EDIT: Sorry, I posted just as you did your second one.
I'm actually looking for a simple mod as I'm very comfortable with PHP edits. Also, I don't mind the throttling of notifications until you actually visit our Forum to "Mark as Read", but I would even like to bypass that with an edit as well. Should I post on another Board?
Thanks
Maybe an ask in the "Mod Requests" board?
op has made a thread in coding discussion already.
