There isn't a way to track an IP address and determine what is coming from the IP address. Is it a Guest or is it a Bot? This small modification will Cure your worries. Lately there are more 'false' Bots called User Agents going around the internet. Some are clever enough to falsify who they are and cause much confusion if you want to block them with /robots.txt, but before you can do that, you must know what User Agent to block from your site. This will help you get that User Agent.

Bots vs Browsers to Track User Agents Or Browser Agents by IP

What this package does: Searches the website botsvsbrowsers.com to detemine if an IP addres is a bot or a browser. If it is a bot, it will show 'X User Agents Found' on the page. If no user agents found from IP searched then the IP is from a user browser. ;-)

Configuration

Nothing to configure. Just open your Who's Online in SMF (logged in at the bottom of the Info Center). You will be taken to SMF's Track IP page. Click on an IP to search for. You will see a new whois-server, Bots vs Browsers IP Look Up Bots Or Browsers, has been added to your server list. Click it and you will be forwarded to botsvsbrowser page to determine if it is a bot (User Agent) or a browser (User Browser)! :)

How to determine if the IP is a User Agent (Bot) or Browser (User Browser)?

If the IP is a User Agents (Bot) then you will see the following message:

If the IP is a Browser (User Browser) you will see the following message:

I quickly skimmed your post, as I do, and your 'Credits' section grabbed my attention.
I have Alot of respect and time for Greg, so seeing that made me pause, and reread your whole post thoroughly.

Thank you Sabre™ for your kind words. I always give credit where credit is due. I spent an entire afternoon trying to hunt down BaiDu User Agent and found out there are more then 20+ variations of the silly thing, could not stop it from showing up on my website, forums mainly. In my searching I stumbled across the Bots VS Browsers website. Thought it would be a perfect tool to determine a User Agent or User Browser.

I thought this was the place to post new mods, but I was incorrect. I found out how to post this in the Modifications as needed, just wasn't looking down on the page correctly. It is posted there now.

Hopefully this Modification gets approved.

The link is correct it shows up for me. Opps. I guess it only shows up for me when I am logged in as it did not show up for me when I was not logged in. I have reattached the file above. Sorry about that.

Then I will not hold my breath. LOL. I am a patient one. I can wait for them to approve. I am in no hurry anymore I was just anxious but have settled down after sleeping on it. Thanks for your input. ;-)
