Hi, I have been running 1.1 for 2 years with success, then last week my site was hacked. I ended up taking the site down, but have backed up my databases. I'd now like to install 2.0, then dump my older database into this new upgraded platform. I'm looking for information on where to start. Is it as simple as just installing the new platform and dropping in the old DB or will I find some challenges here?

As far as moving up to 2.0, I think with a 1.x database, you would likely have to start with a 1.1.14 site and import that database to the site and upgrade from there. I'm just not certain as to the hack you have experienced. More details on that would be a great start on your road to recovery.
my site was running 1.1 for the forums, and I used a heavily modified version of that software to basically run a content management system. My entire site was being run by SMF. I woke up one morning to a nasty homepage with lots of racial slurs and religious mumbo jumbo. I then took the entire site down. I know this is not much to go on but it's all i can offer.
you mean they replaced files to cause that or they got access to admin or similar and changed your cms?
im not sure, i just woke up one morning to my entire site being replaced by the nasty message. Could this not have been the result of not updating the software or perhaps something else?
if you have not updated to latest stable release yes that could be the cause, or it could be a server issue.
I backed up all the DB running on the site and cancelled the account with that host....their service was terrible anyways. I'm now with a new hosting company and want to re-install the SMF software just can't afford many complications.
