Otsikko: theme Ramadhan needs tweeking
Kirjoitti: Apprentice2469 - syyskuu 07, 2011, 01:25:19 AP
The theme is 2.0 Serv Ramadhan (Author:  Fussilet)
found here

I love this theme. It needs a few fixes though. The picture attachments, in the replies, are aligned to the right and bleed off the screen badly. The QUICK REPLY also needs centering (little too low). Is there an easy way I can fix these myself?

You could post in the themes own topic, and ask the author or other users of that theme.

I did actually. But it looks like one person had the design and a second person made it a theme the best they could. Seems a talented third person is needed to polish it off. I do html but couldn't find a way to realign the attached images in a reply.

It looks like it's trying to put the picture attachment in a place other than the normal place (on the right of the reply). Is there an easy way to lead me to were the script is (using notepad?) and change it back to normal?

You can edit the theme from within your admin panel. Unfortunately, that theme is made for an earlier version of SMF, which means it's not updated as it should.

How ever it was made there still must be a way to remake it? I'm new so I don't know if theme makers use a new program, old program or just cut, paste and write code. If it's not updated and doesn't work why is it available for download? I like the concept of making things easy for us normal people but the downloads need to be updated to keep up with their parent programs. Okay, sigh, back to the problem...

...I have been learning more about the admin panel and don't see yet how to make the changes mentioned on 'any' of the themes. What are the steps to change where the attachment shows up in someone's post? Now it bleeds of the right side of the page, much of it cut off, how do I tell it to attach to the left or bottom instead? (the Insert Image button, [img] etc, places the image fine)

Theme authors are volunteers as every body else. They decide for themselves wether they want to keep their themes updated. As user of SMF and admin, it's up to you to notice that the theme is for SMF2 RC1 only. That version is ~2 years old.
SMF 2. up to RC1.2 or so, used the old SMF1 style templates, then Curve was introduced (the new default theme).
It's very different in construction as the 1.x style goes back to 2003 or so.

SMF offers the possability to edit the template files via the admin panel. This mean¨s you have to know php/html/.css styling or at least someone to tell you what to change.
You edit the theme by going to Admin -> Themes and Layout -> Theme Settings. Click on the responding theme you want to edit.
Now you can click the following links:
Modify the index template. (the main template)
Modify the stylesheets. (colors, fonts, etc.)

Use Firefox with Firebug installed to try figure out what needs to be changed.

Thanks Akyhne, been trying your suggestions. Been getting used to Firebug and looking through the scripts. I see a <br> I can take out to lift the Quick Reply button, I just have to find it in the Themes Settings to try. The attachments seem to be lining up now on most browsers, just not netscape so maybe that problem is history. There are a few missing buttons but I'll figure them out. Thanks again
