installed but the width was way off...had to scroll.

I have not installed it but check Admin/Current Theme and see if you can change the width there. If not look in index.css for "div#wrapper" settings.

;)

hmm..

Its fixed width theme.. either something broke up or you have low resolution. What's your resolution. I guess, if you have less than 1200px resolution, you may see a scrollbar..!

PS: It doesn't have width settings in Admin as its fixed width theme.. and I prefer fixed width theme because its good to start if your forum is new , empty.. you don't need lots of stuff to fill it that way.

can You make something for forums with more than default amount of buttons?

becouse it looks like this when You have more. I changed the index.css value in dropmenu height from 39 to 78 but the texture is bad

Since its a fixed with theme, there could be two solutions :
1. Either reduce size of ech button but looking at your screenshot, you have so many buttons, it won't help alot.
2. Group button in dropdown menu.. like, profile button can have PM menu in it along with HELP button.  Also, Admin and moderate button is not available to normal user, so you don't have to worry about them.

Let me know if you can manage with grouping , or else I am thinking to make things so that people can have multi-line theme items.

i don't know how to group buttons :(

and multiline would be super!

Grouping can be done via Subs.php , its easy , you can request that in SMF support with your SUBs.php ..

Regarding Multiline, I can do that only by tomorrow evening. Its Sunday today !

I have updated the theme, now multiline buttons won't break layout. However, I had another idea to completely change how menu are built but that will take time. Meanwhile I hope you will find it  good.

Btw, thank you for liking this theme.

Maybe off.png is wrong?

@GoKorat
It is very much possible that while custom icons were created for the theme, somehow they are not properly packaged. I will look into it and update theme and let you know here.

Update:
I fixed icon issue. You can download fixed theme from theme site.

Like the others really enjoying the look of the theme http://www.bestcafes.com.au/forum/index.php (http://www.bestcafes.com.au/forum/index.php) is where I am using it. Still a work in progress.

Question you might be able to help me sort out is centring the top row of the pulldown menus rather than having them as a left justify? Having trouble following the css and trying to get it to work so any help would be very welcome.

I am glad you liked the theme and I also liked they way you have customized it as per your site's need.
What I can see that you want to center the menu bar. It is possible, but being a fixed width forum, you don't have space to do that.

See this thread : http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=328766.0

Though, all you need to do is give main_menu a fixed width and then give it margin:0 auto; to make it center.
Title: Re: Theme : Red it Random
Post by: beanflying on November 05, 2011, 04:53:05 AM
Thanks for the couple of tips and the link. Still not sure I want them in the centre yet but I wanted to have a look at it running that way.

Your theme has made a really good starter for where I have now got the forum to. Also not seen by guests is a tweaked version on the nchat mod under the menu and a bunch of other more subtle stuff.

Had a few of the members whinging and moaning about the Red but I am winning them over  ;)

Well, ya red may not be a winner at first but later it turns into identity. It definitely gives a unique appearance to your site!

In your index.css (found under theme's css folder)

Find following

.roundframe
{
padding: 20px;
background: url("../images/theme/webbrick-2.png") repeat-x scroll 0 0 #D34040;
-moz-border-radius:15px;
border-radius: 15px;
-webkit-border-radius: 15px;
    margin: -25px auto auto;
}
.roundframe a:link, .roundframe a:visited, .roundframe a:active
{
color: #FFF;
}

Replace it :

{
padding: 20px;
background: url("../images/theme/webbrick-2.png") repeat-x scroll 0 0 #D34040;
-moz-border-radius:15px;
border-radius: 15px;
-webkit-border-radius: 15px;
    margin: -25px auto auto;
         color:#ccc;
}
.roundframe a:link, .roundframe a:visited, .roundframe a:active
{
color: #FFF;
}

In above code, change color part to anything you want.

Hi there,

I have a problem with using this theme with Simpleportal, on the portal page the block headers seem to be missing - because of this it is hard to see the font. I'd like them red the same with the rest of the forum, is there a way of getting this to work properly.
Many thanks in advance

    -moz-border-radius-topright: 20px;

I fixed this on mine in the CSS a while back so I will find it and post up here  :)

Found it search for

input, button, select, textarea
{
font: 95%/115% verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: #000;
background:#fff;
border: 1px solid #7f9db9;
padding: 2px;
overflow:hidden;
}

}

Nothing to do with the theme so best asked as a separate topic if you can't find it in a search. My best guess would be have a look at the Display.template.php if you want to finding out where to do it.  :)

Ricky., first, love this theme. Have been using it for our gaming site and it's doing great.

However, I've noticed a lot of SMF database errors and slow loading times. My server provider seems to think it's the theme I'm using for SMF.

Quote from: GoDaddyUpon testing of the site and forum through internal and external proxy connections the site loaded without issue, however the forum took awhile to load. Through third party tools it appears there may be an issue with the theme of the forum that may be causing problems.

Any insight into what might be causing this?

That is nice to know that you liked this theme.

A SMF theme can't cause load issue, still I tested it on slow connection to see how it loads on slower connection (assuming server is fine) , even on slow connection your site loaded instantly.

At the moment, your site is doing fine.. no issue visible as such.

Yeah, most of the time it works great. Every now and then there is slow-down. I'm wondering if GoDaddy is just trying to pawn the issue off.

And yes, you got it right, they always do that ie. to blame scripts for server faults.

Go for anyone who is not a over seller, just keep distance from those who sell unlimited bandwidth / unlimited space. Those are good for new sites.

How to move simple search field and button from upper right side to lower, just a litle bit above main menu

Title: Re: Theme : Red it Random

You can move it a little without disturbing other things,
Find :
#upper_section div.news {
    color: #DDDDDD;
    float: right;
    text-align: right;
    width: 50%;
}

Replace with :

#upper_section div.news {
    color: #DDDDDD;
    float: right;
    margin-top: 3.1em;
    text-align: right;
    width: 50%;
}

Ofcourse in index.css of theme.

Ricky, back again for some help.

I just installed the FAQ Mod by Suki and it's drawing style colors for the page from somewhere and I'm not sure how to change it. Basically, the background color for the FAQs are a dark red (similar to the color used in the info center background) and it's make the text nearly impossible to read.

My goal is to change the color for those backgrounds to be a grey to match the board index. But, I'm not sure how to fix it. I asked Suki in her mod thread, but she referred me to the CSS style in the theme:

Quote from: Suki on January 19, 2012, 03:46:09 PM
All the css is set at Sources/Faq.php  file, look for a function name "headers"  or something, I renamed the function and forgot the old name.

On that funciton you can change the style.

Each Faq uses generic SMF styles.

I'm wondering if you might be able to point me in the right direction or assist me with matching up her style function to the right function in Red It Random to make the text more legible.

My forum is: http://louisvillednd.com/forum/index.php

I've made the FAQ page visible for guests so you can see what I mean.

I just checked your page, there I see content1 as class being used, is it that you want to change "coming soon" to something more visible ?
THen in index.css of red it random theme, add at end of file:

.content1 {
color: #fff;
}

Let me know if that helps.

Regarding your smileys, you may have turned them off from

There you have drop down menu to disable or choose preferred smiley set.

Ricky,

I'm wondering if you can help me out here. I'm trying to use an HTML header on my forum, which is using the Red It Random (awesome) theme.

When I require the html header in the theme, it seems to pull up, put it's pushing the older header down and mucking everything up.

Can you explain to me how to remove the old header for this theme, and just keep the login and menu information?

Here's my test site: http://michaelpfaff.com/smf/
The actual HTML header is here: http://michaelpfaff.com/wp-content/uploads/pixopoint-theme-integrator/chunk1.html

Here's the code I'm using in index.template.php:

require( '/home/content/62/8427762/html/michaelpfaff/wp-content/uploads/pixopoint-theme-integrator/chunk1.html' );

Right before:

// The main sub template above the content.
function template_html_above()
{
   global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $txt, $modSettings;

For some reason, it's also adding the red curved background image to the HTML header I'm using... Not sure why it would do that. Maybe a css edit needs to happen?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Mike

Looks like you are trying to include your WP buttons in theme, you are including an html page, that is not the proper way, you should rather edit header part of red it random theme and include your buttons html code there along with required css.
It is because the way you are doing it is creating two <header section and hence you are seeing the problem.
