You mean the background? Most theme edits in general are in the index.css file and the images backdrop.png, main_block.png, frame_repeat.png and menu_gfx.png.
not the back drop the bits around the topics and the bit where it blends as it goes down blue at the top and blens down to white. thats the bit i would like to change

yeh but i have beenn trying to find the right name but if i know the name so i can change it. i have been trying to find it for a long time.
