Otsikko: Deleted admin users
Kirjoitti: teachin4him - syyskuu 27, 2011, 10:47:25 IP
Hi,

Hope someone can help us out.

We are on smf 1.1.9 and installed the base SMF installation manually about 5 years ago or more.

We recently deleted some usernames accidentally including the admin usernames.  We do not have the most recent backup of the database.

What is the best way to create the admin usernames?  We tried to look for the smf database in our hosting account but it wasn't there.  We have the db info (username/pw) but don't know where the db is located.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

It is not a file that will be found in your smf files, but is stored on your host's mysql server
The info should be in your hosting control panel under databases/phpmyadmin
I accidentally deleted my admin account. Now what do I do? (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/I_accidentally_lost_my_admin_account!_What_can_I_do)

Look in your settings.php file for the database name and password that is if you have ftp access to the site.  The file should be located in the root directory of your forum.

As for the other admins and usernames you are probably screwed unless someone can remember them and recreate the accounts.

Thanks busterone and ^SITS^!

What is strange is when I look in the settings.php files, I see the name of the database.  When I go into my hosting's mysql server, I do not see the name of the sql db anywhere on my list of databases.  The names are not even close to what is in the settings.php file.  It was installed manually years ago so how do I find out where it is hosted.  Any ideas?

I need to locate the db before I can even create an admin account.

It should tell you right above that what the database server name is.  You should be able to take a backup of your database and download it to where ever you want.

That sounds really odd. The db credentials in settings.php have to be right and the db must be there on the mysql server somewhere, or your forum would not work at all.  If it isn't  listed in your control panel, maybe you should ask your host about it. There may be an issue with the control panel not accessing or displying the correct info for your account.

also you should really consider upgrading to 1.1.15 for security fixes.

I called our hosting provider and it looks like this was installed years ago that I am not able to access my db from my cpanel.  They had to make a copy of it and email it to me.  Now I have to create my own sql db and import the one they sent me to the new one I created.

Once I do that, I can try and create the admin user.

After that, we'll try and upgrade it.

Thanks for all your help!
