Otsikko: Problems with Zipping theme files
Kirjoitti: jomac - joulukuu 27, 2011, 04:12:10 IP
Im having problems with zipping theme files either using the zip facility in Windoze 7 or winzip.

Im modifying a theme, which in itself isnt the issue, when i zip it and then upload the theme to my site, i loose the whole theme, and just get bullet points and text down the left hand side of the page.

At first i thought it was me, corrupting something during the mods im doing, but if i take a standard theme that works on the site, say for example halloween 2010, unzip it to its default folder, and then re-zip it again without altering it in any way, i get the problem described above.

All i want to do with the theme is to alter some of the graphics, still the same size etc, so what am i doing wrong?

are you sure you are not "double" foldering the zip you are making? if you are that is the reason.

Could you explain 'double foldering'?

if i take a standard and working theme that is zipped, lets say its called fred, i unzip it, Windows creates its own folder called fred and puts the unzipped files into that, winzip i have to create a new empty folder called fred and unzip the contents into that (in practice ive been giving the unzipped folder a different name, like fred2

then without touching the contents of the folder, i re-zip the folder and upload it in the usual way, only to get this problem

double foldering is when you zip the folder that contains your files in it, you need to zip the files without the folder
