Hi all. I'm still very new to SMF , so bare with me if this is in the wrong place.
I'm using the ADK Cool Black theme, and my my members (and myself) can't tell when we have a new PM. I could have sworn I used to be able to see some sort of indicator when someone had sent a new pm when I was testing the forum with default theme. I could be wrong though.
Is there somewhere in the theme settings to enable this, or do I need a mod to do this.

If the 'new' image is to be found in your default themes image folder then copy the image onto your desktop so you can add it to the other themes you use.
Doesn't that theme just generate a menu like any other one? I'm thinking the My Messages will have a number after it in bold characters. And isn't there an option for each user labeled "Show a popup when I receive new messages." under Profile-Personal Messaging? What version of SMF are you using too? :)
Hopefully 2.0.x according to the themes page.
why not enable the pm popup in your pm preferences in your profile?

You're right on both counts, however, with that theme the my messages is hidden in a drop down menu, so you cant see it unless you actually hover over the drop down.
As for the pop up, two things. First off, the pop up shows in the default theme colors, which looks horrible against the cool black theme. I'm sure there are ways to change it, but my skill level (and confidence) just isn't there yet. Secondly, counting on users to go into their settings and make the change probably isn't very reliable, even if I do make a sticky topic or some other method of informing them. Is there a way to turn it on universally for members, and then give them the option to turn it off? I could get by with that for now until I can find a better answer, or change the look of the pop up.
And yes I'm using the latest version.

there is a mod on the mod site i believe that changes the popup, do a search for it.
If you are referring to PM_Informer I have tried it and for some reason it's not working properly. When I try to enable it and adjust the settings, I get missing options in the menu screen. See the attached screen shot.

looks like some language strings are missing, you should post in the mods support thread and the author can help you fix that
