Title: Paul_Pauline a Year On!
Post by: Deaks on February 14, 2012, 02:00:36 PM
On January 31, 2011 a known member of the community, and a team member here at Simple Machines, lost the one he loved through cancer, this loss effected our friend a lot and he found it hard to live without the one he loved, so on February 14, 2011, Paul_Pauline took his own life.

This effected everyone who knew the couple, it came as a shock to his Friends and Family, and the team were also devastated, the loss of a loved member of our community, a inspiring support specialist.

I personally remember the time at the UK Meet in 2010, when Myself, K@, Gary, Paul_Pauline and Compuart all met up for a weekend in Manchester.  I remember when Gary called on myself in the train station as he and K@ waited for my train to arrive with K@'s family, then we waited on Paul and Pauline whom drove us to the local pub near where K@ stays, and we had a great conversation about SMF.  This was the first time that Gary and I had met Paul, Pauline and k@ (Gary and I met at MoTM few years before).  Next day we met up with Compuart (Gary and I also had met him before) and we all had nice time in Old Trafford Centre (unfortunately Paul and Pauline could not make this), but we did meet them again for a game of pool and darts.

For myself and all that knew them who were upset at the loss of both. So today 14 Febuary 2012, lets all take a moment for our fallen comrade's and think of the support and friendship they gave us.

In many ways, it seems like yesterday, to me.

That final message he sent me, here, did my head in.

You always have that "Why couldn't I stop/help him?" thing, don't you?

Still, with a bit of luck, they're together, again, in some way, ay? :)

Is there a way the smf forum could have a Rembrance spot for them both?

Time sure flies pass.

They have one in my mind, mate. :)

Sadly, his site's vanished, now. I guess his daughters decided to close it.

it is a shame, he was a great guy when I met him, first image in his case isnt important as once you got to know him he was a kind guy.

When I very first met him, I thought "OMG!! THUG!!!"

He was a big softy, though.

We used to natter all the time, here. I really miss that, with him.

He had a ready and sometimes wkd sense of humour and access to rather a lot of naked people, too. ;)

I still remember K@'s post about this. It was indeed a very sad life story. Hope they have found their peace now.

That's the life. We always lose someone we care about.

That never happened, since I never call anybody. :P I do remember a string of text's

I was just after leaving London, going to text "SMF is riding the rails" but didn't because it sounded stupid. Especially since K@ was the only team member at the time. :P

It's a shame that he offed himself. He was a great bloke.

Who drew that logo anyway, it was either me or Runic, but I'm more inclined to say Runic.

The "simplemachines.org" line is certainly my handwriting. :P

Hmm, might not have shown up by then I guess...

I think it was the opposite. You had already left by then. It was after we went to the Trafford Center I believe. The four of us had a few games of pool and darts.

I remember someone hitting Runic in the finger with a dart actually. :P It was K@ that did that wasn't it?

It was Bryan that did the fulcrum and it was Pauline who threw the offending dart, coz I remember her shrieking and Paul pissing himself! :)

I hate to bump threads, but it seems in the what, 4 months or so that I never even was able to step foot in this forum, so much went by. I didn't know either of them in real life, and I didn't really know of them very much on this community, but I still feel at a loss. I hate when people die, whether of natural, forced, or self-imposed causes. I only hope he knew Jesus Christ as his Saviour. Then the sorrow could turn into joy.

Regardless of all of that, my deepest sympathies go out to the family. It seems like they both were really good people. :(

Jaekob Caed, there is a reason that religion is seldom mentioned in this forum, as it offends people, so remember that in future.  And honestly I think the most religous person out of us who attended was k@'s wife, however I do not think she was there that night.

Yeh Gary it was me who drew on the board, and Compu Gary is correct again you had left by that point sorry.

Oh, so you actually un-ignored me? :P I wasn't pushing it on anyone, I was just mentioning it. So if someone is offended by me mentioning that I'm a Christian, then they really shouldn't be on a forum. :P But yeah, I was just trying to be positive about the situation, so...

Oh come on...I don't think there's anything wrong with what he said. Seriously.

I didn't do anything wrong, and you're being childish by making this a bigger issue than it was...

Actually, Jaekob, your statement was rather proselytizing, and I actually find it obnoxious as well....

and lab...   yeah, I was somewhat offended by his assumption that xtianity made a difference one way or the other.

It's his opinion, in addition to mine. This is a forum. Opinions are posted constantly. If it offends you, read through it, and don't let it bother you.

Once again - you're being childish for making this an issue, when it wasn't one in the first place. You can be offended, you can find it obnoxious, but there was nothing wrong with what I said, and I will not recant nor regret what I said.

This isn't a thread for petty in-fighting. Pay your respects and move on. Two people sadly lost there lives and that is what matters most.

Life is short - enjoy it while you can. Whether you goto church, mosque or where ever.

It's been 12 years as of yesterday. Man, so much has happened since then. I hope Paul is still at peace.
