This happened to me aswell...but it just fixed itself.
SMF is Open Source, so it is not possible for it to be illegal..someone explain!

Everything can be illegal in some respect. If you take phpBB take off all the copyrights and text and sale it as "Insanitary's Forum" that is probably illegal. As xenovanis said read the license ;)
Anyway - the error message in the other topic leads me to believe that your server may be struggling under stress. You any idea how much free memory etc it has?
i think thats because of the memory :( :(
because if you see the other errors i posted, it says "cannot allocate memory"
and on the same host different site, ipb gives the same error.
but weird, only forums dont work and other pages has NO problem at all, its still fast...
it happened today to me...
And I never change the copyright.
I though I was hacked...It repaired itself... >:(
