Title: Help with new site please.
Post by: Hugh Jorgen on April 11, 2012, 08:07:41 AM
Hi, I am looking to build a site where on the front page I would has a list of categories, darts, poker, blackjack, etc when someone clicks the link it would take them to a list of posts. The thing is I don't want this to look like a forum. I don't want them to be able to reply to posts or have any kind of buttons at all, except "contact this member". This is going to be for retail to be able to post and contact each other with their merchandise. I just want it simple without it looking like a forum. So my question is, can this be done with any of the templates here. Basically Strip it naked, almost like blank pages with text and the ability to post a picture or two. I like the idea of the forum because of the ability to hook up to a database so easily, But don't want my site looking like a forum.

Front page would be

Darts
Poker
ETC.

Click poker and you go to a page

Monday 9th

Poker tables $10 each. sold in lots of ten.
2000 poker chips $50
ETC

Now when you click on one of these links you just go to his post on a nice clean page. No ability to post underneath it. Just view it and then be able to contact him through the message system

Sunday 8th

Tables and chips contact me
ETC.

Am I able to do this. Many thanks for reading

well, from what you describe, you would be better off going with some sort of ecommerce software than trying to squeeze a forum into some sort of other shape....
