Title: Inconsistant way of reporting New messages in boards/childboards?
Post by: Gryzor on June 06, 2012, 06:58:56 AM
Hello,

A user reported this "issue":

In Boards a user only needs to read one single thread with the "New" mark, and the Board's icon is turned to the faded icon, In children boards the user has to read every single message before the icon is reset.

I can't decide which behavior is the best (this also raised the question of what is "new" - is it really a new post, or is it an unread post?), but the inconsistency is a bit baffling.

Cheers
T

There is button on every board and even on page index saying "mark read" ,so if he is done and don't want to read any more topics then he can use "Mark Read" button.

Other way is to see "Unread post since last visit", and click mark all read.

Regarding second ie. new button, it show there is something new since last visit, it could be new post or new topic.

Yes, I know these options, but they're not permanent and, well, the procedure remains inconsistent :)
