Title: Paid subscriptions not updating user groups and users missing
Post by: tdot on October 12, 2012, 02:22:28 AM
I have paid subscriptions set up on my forum.

Members are able to pay for the subscription, I get the paypal email, but half the time the member isn't upgraded to the premium user group.  The user isn't listed in the paid subscription list at all.  When I try and add the user manually I get this message "This member is already subscribed to this subscription. Please edit their existing subscription."  So I look in the list again but they aren't in the list at all?? :S

any suggestions?

There is indeed something broken in paid subscriptions (somewhere), see if any of the previous report match your experience: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=search2;search=paid+subscriptions;brd=137

I too am having the EXACT same problem.  And those linked searches didn't help.

EDIT: I am also running 2.0.2.  And I have previous people who it worked for.  And I "think" they used the paid subscriptions before 2.0.2, during 2.0.1.  Because I only just recently went to 2.0.2.  I think.

Im also having trouble with this.
Im trying to integrate a subscription on the forum, into a game server.

I've used the paypal ips simulator, and get unknown transaction type message e-mailed to me, for quite a few txn types, but each still received the unknown transaction type.

Also tried with recurring ticked and unticked, in USD and GBP.
Have also used the sandbox developer tools at paypal to simulate a round trip, and also had people send test payments.
Still no joy.

The e-mail is sent saying that the Transaction type was unknown, and then the person's forum profile goes into payment pending, after being accepted on the sellers paypal, the status on the forum/subscription doesnt change to Active.

Me too, been monitoring progress of subscriptions since going to 2.0.4, I get the notice from PayPal that the payment was made but it doesn't reset the ending date of the subscriber and after the previous ending date expires the user is put into the finished column instead of remaining in active column

So... I solved this issue only last night.... I don't know if it will for anyone else, but I found it was my .htaccess file which was causing the system to fail. I would still get a "completed" status for the transaction in my Paypal accounts, but was getting the pending issue with the paid subscriptions.

Deleted .htaccess and it all worked!!! Now, I have to see what it was within my .htaccess that was causing the issue.

No harm in giving it a try! I've concentrated 4 days of free time trying to resolve this including various apache and PHP rebuilds, and it ended up being something very simple for me personally :)

This problem has been around since 2.0 was first released.  It seems to affect forums differently, and various fixes I've tried will sometimes work only on one forum.  There were a couple of bugs in the early releases, at least some of which have been fixed, but people are still having problems.

SMF does not install with an .htaccess file in the forum root, so it's unlikely that's a general cause of the glitch, but if you have the .htaccess file, please post it here.

Not saying it's SMF's fault - if you have edited your htaccess file any reason, like for example stopping hotlinking etc either through editing the file, or through c-panel, then you could have caused the issue to occur.

Just saying people should check what they may have inadvertently changed in the file really ;)

It's entirely possible that one may screw up a variety of features by any modules that rely on creating an .htaccess file, it depends on the functions that whomever's module is adding, but I highly recommend that if there is one present in the root, instead of deleting it, just tag a ~ or two onto the end of the filename by renaming it, and also it's a bad idea to try to edit it if you are not an expert... depending on the module that is utilizing it, if you just delete the file without a viable backup method, you could possibly disable being able to get back on your board

Hmm, there's nothing specific in this report that hasn't been covered in other reports, so I'm going to close this one for now.
