Hi,
we r using SMF version 2.0.2 since past 2 months for our torrent Tracker and didn't face any problem untill yesterday...
The index page has just gone blank... all the other things r working fine, Messages, Topics, settings, everything, but the main index page has just gone completely blank like this...
Whereas the topics and other things r fine...

Now i would like to know that how to fix this issue??
Will we have to reinstall the whole smf again or we can replace a few files from the package, if possible...???
Tried to replace these 4 files, but nothing changed...

Awaiting help...
Regards,

1- the title is worse than useless. When you are asking for help, use a descriptive title (like "forum index is not displaying"). "need help" just encourages people to skip over the topic because they don't know what it's about. Everyone "needs help, asap"....
2- mods installed? Url?
3- Since torrent is not a part of SMF, how is the failure of your torrent tracker an issue with your installation of smf?
4- install.php, upgrade.php and .SQL files are only used during installation or upgrade. They should be deleted after completing the installation or upgrade.
Changed the topic name...
We just tried the method described in this tutorial...
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=400356.msg2782585#msg2782585
now nothing is opening...
everything is blank...
ummm... link fail.
you tried to do WHAT, WHERE?
You did not answer my questions.

Also, please stop using fancy font/size - Just type normal posts. It makes it much easier to read.
Here is the url to the forum...
http://blu-evolution.org/index.php?page=forum
i've repaired the link above aswell...
well, you still have not answered the biggest two questions.

page=forum is *****NOT****** a standard part of SMF. (actually, it's not part of any of the portal mods that I am familiar with, either)
Actually, as far as I can tell, that's not even SMF, since there is no SMF copyright or anything else.
Normally index.php?action=credits would pull up the smf credits page... in your case, it pulls up nothing.
Forced topic and profile links also pull up nothing.
now u'll be able to see the support and credits...
http://blu-evolution.org/smf/index.php?action=admin;area=credits;fda3bbd46e=05b71f9997816303b3da4a90a98fa79c
it didnt pull up anything cause im trying to fix this smf and nobody can help me recover the index page
Yes, I now see the smf copyright, but the forum is still blocked for guests....
you'll have to turn on guest viewing...
u can register on the site here...
blu-evolution.org
and then u'll have the access to the forum aswell...
As it is a private tracker, we can't open it for the guests...
well, since I don't feel like registering on a forum I'll never return to - If you'd like me to take a further look, please PM me a valid login username and password
sent
ok.
blank white page indicates a php errror.
this suggests that you have some code that is causing the php parser itself to fail on your homepage.
you still haven't answered my original question...

No mods r currently installed...
I don't believe you.
I see at least one listed on the credit page...
Also, since the main index page does not fail for no reason. You obviously made some edits which contain errors.
Now u can see... No Mods...
plz tell me if there is a way to only keep the forum topics and threads and user data and to reinstall SMF ???
well, I say again...
I see at least one listed on the credit page...
have you done any manual coding of the index.template.php, boardindex.template.php or index.php?
If not... then replace those files with clean files from the distribution archive.
No haven't done any coding in any files...
Ok will replace and let u know when done...
BTW: attempting to include the forum in an iframe, like you do on blu-evolution.org/index.php?page=forum is almost guaranteed to cause problems.
iframes do not play well with sessions.
Well it was working great up until a few days ago...
We have checked the files and found that there is a repetition in the following files, so i was wondering that wether this duplication is the problem and do we need to remove them in order to fix it??? If so, which one's to remove??
Have a look plz...
There is no duplication. There are php files and php~ files...
The php~ files are created as backups when you install a mod... Wich begs my point again starting mods tha you have installed...
However, those files ae not the caused your problem. I still believe that someone made a change on your system which caused a php error...
We deleted every extra thing that we ever installed on smf, all the custom themes and extra mods...
but if u want to know which ones we ever installed on it, i can make a list...
But there is something that might help u to crack the problem...
last week their was a php crash in main xbtitfm files...
Some file that directs the site to index.php of the tracker was damaged...
It is then onwards that smf started having small issues....
and now this blank index page and many mods stopped working...
Oh and plz let me know in which directory those files, which u were asking me to replace r located???
Thanks
Ok we replaced index.php and boardindex.php... and now the good thing is that the index page has appeared just fine...
but whenever u open any topic... it's just blank white screen...

rotfl.... I thought that you did no have any mods installed?
OK. I am done messing around with this.
Get the files from the large upgrade distribution.
Delete all files and sub directories from Sources and Themes
delete all files from the /smf (aka forum root) directory with the exception of settings.php. (KEEP SETTINGS.PHP)
now copy all files (and sub directories) from the large upgrade package into the /Sources, /Themes and forum root.
NOTE: THIS WILL REMOVE YOUR CUSTOM THEME, you will have to reinstall your theme and any mods.
NOTE 2; BACKUP first, as always.
Something caused the whole site to crash...
We have decided to reinstall everything from scratch...
I've made the database backups in which i see that all the user profiles and topics, pms etc r present...
Only question left is that
Will we be able to upload that database file to the new installation so that all the content can been retrieved???
If so, How???
It's like you are not even reading the words that I type.
You don't need to reinstall.
Do what I listed in the post above.
Ok Started :)
It's fixed now mate...
Thanks alot for all the Help...
Cheers :)
glad you got it fixed. :)
