Just moved over from Simple Press and I can't believe how many spam members I have after only two days.
How can I stop this?
thanks
Have you setup any registration questions? That's usually the best place to start. There are also mods on the mod site to help prevent spammers as well.

And a section of the FAQ in the wiki...

Welcome to the club. There's a lot of spamming going on. Take this for what it's worth but when I started using this message I conjured up myself - my spammers all but stopped -
You can't post ANYTHING or use your account until an Admin approves your account based on spam databases and heuristic screening criteria - you will not be registered until this approval is complete - if you still wish to apply enter "notspammer" without the quotes in the box^^^ none of that is true but they don't know that.
Try it, it can't hurt.

Now they do...
I suspect that the bots can't follow the instructions to drop the quotes, but pretty soon human spammers will be attacking you...

Bring it - I'm ready for em!
Place a question (Admin > Security and Moderation > Anti-Spam.) that is in direct relationship to your content of your forums. something your users would know. This will throw the bots off the tracks for sure.
thanks for the tips.
I'll give them all a try.
I've set up security questions and registered a user to test, however the questions don't appear during the registration process?
you have to set the "number of questions" to more than 0
got it thanks!
