anytime am using image inside a post
As an inline image, between [img][/img] tags? Or, as an attachment?
If it's as an attachment, just put a "." or a smiley in the message body, or something. There was a mod, for this. But, I believe it was for an older version of SMF.

Could you answer K@'s question above, are you referring to inline images (between img tags) or iamges as attachments ?
Might also be best if you could provide a test account so we can see what the issue is.

i mean inline images and not attachments. when am copying images inside a post, it will show message body empty but when i removed the images and post only the message, it will submit that. i don't really know what happen because i used to post with images before and i mean post with message inside the post and not attachments. both the images inside post and attachments do work well before but now i can't put images inside posts again. please help me, did you think this happen because of the mod i install?
The Custom Permissions mod might have affected it but I don't really know the mod so I couldn't really say.
Anything in the error log ?

i have uninstall the last mod which is Bot Buster, but i can't still post images with message on my forum and i used to use it before. anytime am trying to put image inside a post, it tell me message body empty but if i remove the image and post it like that, it will post immediately. i don't know why i can't post with image inside the message and i can attach too just that if i put the image inside the post, it won't go.
What specific code are you using for the image?
Plus, a hunch...
Have you disabled the IMG bbc code, by any chance?

Admin > Forum > Posts and Topics > Bulletin Board Code. Check if img is ticked or not.
and if you want the image, you need to use the img bbc....
You can not paste an image into the browser window you can only use an image URL.

You can if you click the toggle view button. ;) This image below is just copied and pasted into this post.
(http://media.simplemachinesweb.com/smf/smsite2/images/site/ombanner.jpg) (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Main_Page)
But that image is hosted on a web accessible location.

It's this right here that I don't get. Copy and paste it how? I have to assume you are using WYSIWYG editor or something. But without really knowing, we're all sort of guessing. :)

When you post the image, are you doing it like this?
[img]http://media.simplemachinesweb.com/smf/smsite2/images/site/ombanner.jpg[/img]
repeating yourself over and over to answer DIFFERENT questions is not helpful

what i did anytime i want to post message with images before is that i will copy and paste the images inside the message and post, but now it will tell me message body empty and if i remove the image inside the message and post on the message, it will then go but with images......it is not working.
Images won't show as images, unless you use the IMG tags.
I feel like my head's having a battle with a very solid brick wall, at the moment.
are these images, which you are copying and pasting hosted on your LOCAL dirve or some internet accessible location?
(and are you using the WYSIWYG editor?)

the images were copy from the internet, but even the ones that was not are not going too.
am using the WYSIWYG editor because i didn't tick it which means am using it.
local images will NEVER EVER EVER work.
try this.
Exit out of the wysiwyg.
type
[img]PAST URL FOR IMAGE HERE[/img]
does that work?

I don't tick the WYSIWYG box before, and where did you want me to use the code.
in a post.
turn off the wysiwyg.
then try to use an image URL with the actual IMG BBC tags

Okay so i should tick the WYSIWYG box and use the image with the message like that?
*Everything*? You mean every single one of the other bbcode items was ticked?

yes everything was tick but the WYSIWYG editor box was not tick.
So are you using the wysiwyg editor or not?
Why are some users so dedicated to NOT answering the questions?

So again we have to ask, are you using the wysiwyg editor? (yes / No) If yes, then are you saying it's not working as expected? (as it did before).
So in Admin > forum > forum settings, the box is not ticked meaning the wysiwyg editor is active.
Now go to your Profile > Modify Profile, and check the setting "Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default." is that box ticked?
.......this is becoming my topic of the week for entertainment value..... :P

the wysiwyg is active but still the images is not showing with the message.
As far as I can see, through my rather befuddled glasses, you haven't confrimed that you're using img tags, either.
If you copy/paste this into a post:
[img]http://www.katzy.dsl.pipex.com/Smileys/ghjg7na5.jpg[/img]
...do you get this image?
I think this should be able to give clear of the problem.
When i try to post one image now, this is what i get....
"The following error or errors occurred while posting this message:
The message body was left empty."
the message body now show this message: -

great woman in the pic
i don't know what i can do again, please help

When i copy the links and post it, the image show but did this mean that i have to insert images links before the images can show.
That's what we've been trying to tell you, yes.
WTF IS THAT?!
base64 junk? no wonder it does not work... that is not a valid image file.
BTW: I removed the base64 crap in that post since it was setting off one of my network warning triggers

I don't see how, unless you had a mod to do that.
I can't say I've ever seen such a mod, though.

**THAT** is not a valid image file. Period.
add in the base 64 stuff... it looks like your browser tried to paste in the actual contents of the image file instead of the URL.
I suspect that it is a BROWSER issue... You probably upgraded your browser recently

i think you may be right about the browser because i think the browser is in automatic upgrade....so what did you suggest that i should do now.
Logic says that you either try a better browser, or check the configuration of the one you use.
Quoteadd in the base 64 stuff... it looks like your browser tried to paste in the actual contents of the image file instead of the URL.
You know that is allowed, right? It is *perfectly legitimate* to include images with data URLs.
If you don't believe me, go look at Wedge's CSS files sometime, you'll see a ton of them in there.
ick... :P no wonder Wedge looks funky to me sometimes on my home machines... :P
Performance is important - saving HTTP requests is worth doing.
yeah.... unfortunately too many hackers try to encrypt their crap in base64, so I have my systems set to reject any such calls...
Even in CSS files where it is perfectly legitimate, good call.
lol... hey... I know how to block it. I don't know how to selectively block it. :)
How, exactly, are you blocking it?
I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone that contribute to this topic...i say thank you all. i think the problem is solve because when i used another browser i can now post images even when i copy&paste it. i think my previous browser have problem and after changing it, it is now okay. thanks
