Post by: 1MileCrash on September 24, 2005, 11:58:32 PM
nope. Still underconstruction.

To do-

A. ) change the images to link off the images directory url setting, not just http://model98.org/forum/Themes/blah etc....
No bandwidth for yoo!

B.) validate it.

C.) fix the width of every other template [/long time]

D.) finish the footer menu.

E.) finish the meta keywords manager [/new feature]

and stuff.

Im depressed now. I pretty much need to upgrade it to 1.1 to see widespread use.  :(

(even though i think ill stick with 1.0 on my site forever)
Title: Re: [Preview] PitchBlack for SMF 1.0.5
Post by: dtm.exe on September 24, 2005, 11:59:22 PM
Why do you have to change the width?  What's wrong with it being at 100%?  Also, check your PMs.
Title: Re: [Preview] PitchBlack for SMF 1.0.5
Post by: 1MileCrash on September 25, 2005, 12:05:44 AM
it's a bit hard to explain.

The main background of the forum includes the two gradients on the side (Click Here if that didnt make sense) (http://model98.org/forum/Themes/NightFell2/images/mainbg.gif)

I dont want the templates hanging over those gradients, so i have to fix the widths of them.

(go to the message index. I didnt do it there yet, go see how bad it looks)

[update]

added "custom header" option.

You can put anything here, a description, images, etc. Editable throught the admincp under current themes settings.

See it (http://model98.org/forum/index.php?;theme=11)

Thanks.

I cant really say when it will be released. It WILL be released, and as soon as possible, but i do have...a life.  ;D

In progress:

Feature which allows you to hide post count and post-count rank.

Feature which shows a users registration-date on posts.

Im expecting it to all be done and packaged up by the end of this week.

No.  Not manually that is.  Some templates see this automatically and some don't.  Usually the template developer builds in some way to detect for it.  It DID detect the mod I installed for streaming.  I have another template (WINDOWS XP) that doesn't.

I'm using it now and it's really nice.  It looks good on the screen.

Title: Re: [Theme] PitchBlack for SMF 1.0.5
Post by: 1MileCrash on October 04, 2005, 09:17:29 PM
im pretty sure the only way for mods to display on other themes is if it does not use the templates modified on it's own - meaning it uses the defaults, which are modified by the package manager. no mods can modify other themes through the package manager.

you may be thinking of helios, which had a mod "preinstalled"..errmm something. But other than that, they cant really "detect" anything.

Glad you like it.  :)

Title: Re: [Theme] PitchBlack for SMF 1.0.5

A question. I am getting this error in the log, but it does not seem to have any direct visual or operational effect. Should I just ignore it? It occurs everytime a thread is viewed.

8: Undefined index: current_FFic
File: /home/alaerth/public_html/forum/Themes/Pitchblack10/Display.template.php (eval?)
Line: 110

Thanks again for a great theme. I would change it over to 1.1 myself, but I assume it would take too long since I would have to learn what to change.

Tippmaster, as requested.  :)

<?php
// Version: 1.0; index

/*   This template is, perhaps, the most important template in the theme.  It
contains the main template layer that displays the header and footer of
the forum, namely with main_above and main_below.  It also contains the
menu sub template, which appropriately displays the menu; the init sub
template, which is there to set the theme up; (init can be missing.) and
the linktree sub template, which sorts out the link tree.

The init sub template should load any data and set any hardcoded options.

The main_above sub template is what is shown above the main content, and
should contain anything that should be shown up there.

The main_below sub template, conversely, is shown after the main content.
It should probably contain the copyright statement and some other things.

The linktree sub template should display the link tree, using the data
   in the $context['linktree'] variable.

The menu sub template should display all the relevant buttons the user
   wants and or needs.

Because it's not really black :P

ok, your using different terminology, that's why i asked "what template"

Template - templates are files which contrtol certain parts of a theme, index.template.php controls the header and footer, boardindex.template is the board index, etc.

Theme - The whole thing..

you'll still have to be more specific. i dont know where (what template?), what kind of banner, or anything.

your code is wrong...you didnt specify a reference (url)

it should be

take a look at html tutorials..

ok, you're going to have to tell me where you want it. Do you just want it to replace the "simple machines" one? if so, you could just overwrite the file.

Okay-- thanks for your help! I think I get it.

Also a member of my forum asked if the names of the mods could be blue, names of the global mods could be green, and the admin's be red. Can I do this? ( this has to do with the templete right?)

I've seen it done on other sites, but I don't know how to edit the theme to get it to do that.

So anyone know?

I'm having another problem with this templete... The banner doesn't show up. The old one came up only once, and then I replaced the banner.gif banner.png and banner2.png (all with same picture) and it stilll doesn't show up. Any thoughts? Check it out for yourself. www.pspzone.mfhosting.com/smf/index.php

Yes, I'm also lost on where that download link is. The only things on the first post are a live demo link which takes you to another forum board and a thumbnail image. Where's the download link :'(

Hi. I'll admit right off the bat, I'm still very new at setting boards but I am so pleased I found your theme to use with my first attempt.   My question is regarding "child boards" and how to remove/replace the actual "child boards" wording.  Thank for your assistance and the great theme.

Take care.. Twisted Tristen

Wow, this theme is so awesome. Amazing work as usual o.o; Do you think its possible for this to be made for smf 1.1 (rc1 or rc2)? Since i so wish to use this theme on my forums, though not possible since 1.1 gets errors with some pages with the theme.

Tippmaster, I have been asked to modify your theme.
The first fish was a translation to Hungarian language. It's OK, not problem.
But I got a second one: change the width snap to the browser's. Will you make a variable size version from the theme?

Thanks!

First, check to see if the actual banner.png is located in your folder Themes/main/images/banner.png

If it is, I would suggest uploading the file again since it may have become corrupted or something.

If you wouldn't mind I am having a couple of problems with the theme.  I have made some changes to the banner et al, and they seem to be working fine.  However, I have a problem with the login screen on Firefox.  Here is what it looks like.

as opposed to IE

Any guidance that you could give me to fix this would be appreciated.  I originally installed Pitchblack on SMF 1.0.5 but have migrated to SMF 1.1 RC2, but the problem has been there all along.

Also, on the Forum Profile Information screen, it is not showing the area where you update avatars.  The personal information is there, and I looked at the code in Profile.Index.php and the code seems to be there...any suggestions?  Here is a screen shot.

Thanks so much for your help.

I am assuming that you are talking about the login page....

Any ideas on the avatars?  When I switch to the default theme, thise fields show up.

Just so you know, I tried installing the Skype Name Mod...i had troble getting it to work and getting it unistalled correctly...I thought I replace the correct Profile.template.php and Display.template.php

Again...thanks for your help....

I am in major learning mode with all of this stuff..so please forgive the questions...

Tipp,

if you look at my previous post i did some additional testing and the  problem i mention about not being able to get to the avatars is definately related to using pitchblack with SMF 1.1 rc2.  i installed a version of smf 1.0.6 and this problem wasnt there.  currently, no one using our board can get to the avatar area in the personal preferences in their profile.  is there something that i can change that will fix this problem short of waiting for the rc2 version of this theme?

thanks again for all of your help

frank

Tipp this is the only theme I will probably reply to.
This theme is by far my favorite i run a cs clan website and everyone hates all the other stuff i put up (no offence)

Im running 1.1 RC2 now and a few of the features are messed up (Avatars mainly) but myself and my clan decided it stays, we can live withotu the features till you release 1.1

www.me.omuka.com I have changed the background gradient thats about it. so heres another live preview of PitchBlack and it will most likely stay this way.

Good job man, havent seen anythign that equals this, if you have somethin for 1.1 RC2 that looks as good as this let me know man, im impressed.
