Any idea how I mght go about adding a member search function so you can search by location?
This would be specifically local, so users would initially enter their location via a preset drop down of local towns.
Then other users could see lists of members, filtered by location
Kind of like a dating site, though this is just to get people together for help and advice ...
The alternative of using postal codes would be better but then requires all the geographic coding to work out distances - don't want to go there !
I realise this might need a new mod but just wondered if there's anything that might be halfway there that I can adapt

There is an option to make the field searchable, just read the SMF's wiki link.
