Title: How do I connect to old database after dynamic URL change?
Post by: Nick Gordon on September 25, 2005, 10:51:24 AM
Hi,

I lost connection to my database after the dynamic URL changed adress. I first noticed loss of CSS connection, so I tried the install.php again. I seem to have made a new database. The old one still exists, i can see it in phpMyAdmin.

How do I connect to it again and have cascading style sheets again?

Thanks for any help.

First, modify Settings.php and make sure that all the settings there are correct. Next, download repair_settings.php from the downloads page under "Tools and Converters", then upload that to your forum directory and run it. Make sure you use all the recommended values, and that should fix all your problems. More info: What is repair_settings.php? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=18096.0)

Brilliant. it worked out alright. I first changed de database name in Settings.php. I then ran repair_settings.php. There i could see a lot of URL pointing to the previous URL adress. I changed them all to the new adresses and saved these settings. That was it.

Thanks Oldiesmann this was great help.
