Title: Isn't there some kind of repair mod?
Post by: S Mac on October 01, 2013, 02:34:27 PM
I'm sure I heard someone saying there's a mod that repairs simple errors. Can you remind me what it's called/where to find it?

Thanks. :) This isn't just a simple download, from the looks of it - ie, from Package Manager? Do I have to upload it through an FTP client?

Exactly.

Put it in the root of the forum, where Settings.php is. Then, navigate to it, in your browser.

There're full instructions, on that page that I linked to. :)

first of all  -- you need to be ***MUCH*** more clear in your questions.

Your first post said that you wanted to modify "some code" but you never specifically explained WHAT you were trying to accomplish.
This post says "repairs simple errors"

WHAT errors? How do you know they are "simple errors"? Without knowing what the errors are, we can't really point you in the right direction.

repair_settings.php is a stand-alone script which does exactly what it says... it attempts to repair the settings of a forum which somehow got misconfigured (urls, paths, db names, etc) it does not fix *ANY* other issues or errors.

It was just a general question, that's why. ;) Can't think of any errors right now. I got the answer I needed for now. And there were a few things I wanted to try with the code but I'll come back when I've got a more specific q.

@K@ Pls don't shout at me for using this thread..I've taken a look at your website & it looks great. How'd you manage to get it looking so professional & build it up in such a short time? Any advice? I didn't know how to post a message to you, sorry!!
