Hello, I manage a forum of a big italian blog.
I want to change board because IPB is not so good for what I'd like to do, but I can't find nothing to import the old db.
Is there a converter for this version of invision (1.4) or does it work with another version?
This is my first conversion, and I'm not so able to do that :)
Thank you so much.
As I always say, converters are a tricky piece of software :P
There were some successful conversions lately, but from recent versions. Yours is quite old and I'm not sure if there is any currently available :(
There is a converter for 1.3 (that should work for SMF 1.1) but for your version I don't think so. It should, however, be possible to pick from that one and adapt it to your new (?) database schema... But it's not an easy job...
Thank you.
So do you think I have to try with the 1.3 version and if it doesn't work, do we have to do this in another way? :)
How long do you think it take?
If the database changes in IPB, from version 1.3 to 1.4 were significant, it will fail and a converter needs to be created. Probably not going to happen, for such an older version :(
Can't you upgrade your forum to one of the supported versions?
I'm assuming you mean 3.1.4? There never was a version 1.4 of IPB - they went from 1.3 to 2.0.
mmm, don't know.
The forum is on forumfree and the version which is written is 1.4. Maybe is just a little forumfreeupgrade?!
I want to try with 1.3. Where is the converter? I didn't find it! :)
Right on this board, sticky

???
How did you get a copy of the database?
Last time we had to move away all the history get lost because it was impossible to obtain a copy of the messages...well, actually was a long time ago, maybe now it's possible... :P
