I just got a new Web host this morning and so I installed Smf. Anyway, I installed it with Fantastico and of course, Fantastico forums are still only installing SMF 1.0.5 anyway, is anyone willing to upgrade it for me, because I honestly do not know how to.
Actually it is a pretty easy process, first you download the upgrade package and then extract it and upload it. After the upload is done, the only thing you have to do is to run the "upgrade.php" :) After the upgrade is done, you may safely delete the "upgrade.php" ;)
I am still not sure, how to do It, I will give it one more last attempt and if I still can do it, could you update it for me please?
Tye's forum has been upgraded to 1.1 RC1 successfully ;)
I have the same issue. I already have some people posting and don't want to mess up what is already there. I tryed to upgrade it in the forum and it said some of my files needed a chmod permission change or something? I changed the permissions to 777 to the files I thought it was talking about but still get the same message and the upgrade doesn't complete. Are you talking about manually uploading the file in a zip and unzipping it? Then click the upgrade file? Where would you unload the zip file?
I tryed uploading it and I went to the upgade.php and got this message.

The upgrader found some old or outdated files.
Please make certain you uploaded the new versions of all the files included in the package.

what that means is ALL files get uploaded, except setting.php and settings_bak.php

So you want me to backup those two files then upload new ones? I gues from the same zip file?
yeah, backup those two files, then upload your new stuff, then re upload the settings files. your settings files are important. following the upgrade instructions would be easier than me telling you.

Does anyone do this as a service? I would like the youtub mod too. My site is for a free online community service. I am having a hard time with upgrading this board or making mods. I used phpbb and found it much easier to make changes myself. This is confusing me.

The charter membership service provided by SMF gets you installs and upgrades. Alternatively to can post in the Help Wanted board

I had this problem also, try a different file. I think the zip files worked for me
