Why attachments not converted :(

Hum, that's a lot different that I'd expect. A BBC for attachments is probably a modification for the core phpBB that the converter will likely not handle...
Which version were you running and which converter did you use?
Look in this thread (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=508551.0), then search to find this line:
QuotephpBB supports inline attachments and SMF doesn't. This results in stuff that looks like this:
There will be all the information you need to "convert" the phpbb attachment bbcodes into SMF....
