Hi,
I'm a newbie to php--in fact, web development--and just now needed to add a support forum to my system (GUI tied to a back-end database). SMF was the perfect option to me.
I've been looking around and searching; I hope this is the right board to post this thread.
Now, for the nature of my systems, I would like to have the same home page with all its components. However, I would like the forum site to prompt a user login before they're able to view the home page and then start from there.
In short, my global default (index) page would be a login. Then, once successfully authenticated, a user will have access the normal home page that we all know and love!
Of course, once logged off, the same login page would be where the user is parked, obviously.
I am sure that it should be somewhat simple. Yet, I am not at all equipped with php experience, and therefore I am using SMF instead of writing my own forum.
I am familiar with all SMF folders and files. So feel free to start from there.
SMF 2.0.8
Cheers, M

It is easy: ACP --> Configuration --> Features and Options --> Allow guests to browse the forum (uncheck this)
