Dear Members,
Simple Machines Forum has released a new patch to both the 1.1.x and 2.0.x line, bringing our latest release versions to 1.1.21/2.0.10
This patch is a bug fix release, which focuses on solving the problems that our members reported since the release of the previous versions. Please check the changelog for additional details.
If you are running version 2.0.9/1.1.20, you can update your forum to the latest version by using the package manager. As usual, you should see the upgrade notification in the admin panel and in the package manager, which will allow you to download and install the patch seamlessly. If you don't see the notification about the update, please run the scheduled task "Fetch Simple Machines files". You can also download the patch from our customization site (http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/) and then install it from the package manager like any other mod package.
If you use older versions of SMF, you can upgrade by using the full upgrade archive for version 1.1.21/2.0.10 from the downloads page. Be aware that using this upgrade method will require you to reinstall any customization you added to your forum.
You can also view the change log for the latest release, as usual, on the downloads page (http://download.simplemachines.org/).
Note that two new language strings have been added for the Manage Paid Subscriptions area in 2.0.10, so if you are using a language other than English, you will need to download the appropriate language packs again.
If you are having problems downloading the patch from the admin panel, you can download the package from the upgrade patches page and install it like a mod as instructed above.
Please refer to the Online Manual for more details about:
* upgrading (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Upgrading)
* patching (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Patching)
Thank you for using SMF!
Regards,
Simple Machines Forum
Thanks for the continued updates.
something wrong with the packages ... the upgrade only has ssi.php
both upgrade and install are same size with only ssi.php
Both served from atlanta server
edit all packages are iffy for upgare and install
Thanks for reporting, devs already noticed. Oldies is re-uploading them as we speak; something went wrong with the copy from the build server.

sounds better if you didnt :P
Replaced the packages and changed the server configuration, the packages should download as expected now.
It may take a few minutes before the patch shows up on the cust site link.
Thank you
packages on the mirror are sorted :)
Nice work :)
Small problem, smf_2-0-10_upgrade.zip has all files from full install. Something went wrong ::)
no it does not.
I just downloaded.
smf_2-0-10_upgrade
has only the files needed for the full upgrade.
It seems one minor discrepancy was overlooked for the first edit to ./Themes/default/languages/index.english.php
it looks for:
// Version: 2.0.8;
It is showing an error for me during the install.
The line reads:
// Version: 2.0.8; index
The xml file looks like it should replace the first bit of code from that line without issue but it is throwing an error for me.
Regards.
It seems perhaps sequentially patched versions have this in that file:
// Version: 2.0.7;
Whereas anyone who has a full or upgrade version of 2.0.8 or 2.0.9 will not have any (minor) issue.
Hello Dear SMF Team,
This two updates (SMF 1.1.21& SMF2.0.10) - is successfully. Had to correct the small problems in the files manually.
Thank you so much, many tan'x for a great job! :)

This announcement thread is not for support...
While I agree announcement threads shouldn't be for support, when it's about an upgrade maybe it should. I read this through this thread first and was relieved to see Chen's post about the version number.
As it is, now I have to go sift through the support threads to see if the other issue with this patch was addressed.
jmo
thing is -- that version number thing did not fail on any of our testing... which included clean 2.0.9 as well as upgraded/patched 2.0.9 installations
So, Chen's report would seem to be specific to his site (?)
I had the exact same thing. Test failed in ./Themes/default/languages/index.english.php because it said '// Version: 2.0.7;' ... and I keep up with all updates/patches/etc.
hmmm... odd. I have installed it on 12 sites so far and have not seen that issue.
Nice job team
Thanks again for the hard work.
First the responsive update and now this. Lots of activity :)

Similar, I also keep updated, currently running 2-0.9. Got a test failed, but on mine it says,
./Themes/default/languages/index.english.php
Code: (Find) [Select]
// Version: 2.0.8;
Code: (Replace) [Select]
// Version: 2.0.10;
This is with the patch from the upgrades page. Not asking for support, just saying. ;)
I'm guessing as my other site upgraded fine, but that had a fresh set of files uploaded a week or two back. But the site getting the test failed has been upgraded using the patches for the last few versions, it has something to do with this.
Thank you so much! :)
congrats devs,
What I was saying in my last post was that if you have been installing patches from at least SMF version 2.0.7 then it will most likely throw that error.
All one needs to do to have the patch install cleanly is to edit its installer to look for:
// Version: 2.0.7;
instead of
// Version: 2.0.8;
.. for those that get the error or one can just edit it manually to:
// Version: 2.0.1.0;
Btw I had the error occur on 2 sites.. mine & SimplePortal.
No mods or manual edits affected that specific line or anything near it less any older patches of course.
Why edit the installer when one can just as easily edit the index.english.php file? Unless you're talking to the developers in which case, never mind. :P
And that last manual edit you posted should be 2.0.10 ... not 2.0.1.0 ... :)
Fantastic news. Congratulations, great work and thank you. :)
The thing is, chen, as I said - I updated 12 sites... some of them installed fresh on 2.0.9 and some of them upgraded from 2.0.0 all the way up... all sites worked fine.
I am not saying that you folks DIDN'T get the error message - since obviously, several of you did... but there seems to be something (which is not related specifically to how you had previously gotten to 2.0.9) which is causing it on your sites which did not cause it on any other sites.
Hmm... I'm stuck at "Attempting to fetch the most popular and recent packages from www.simplemachines.org..."
Yes, I've ran the scheduled task.
There is a glitch on the smf server side... Just manually download the patch from the link in this thread and then upload it to your site like any other mod
thanks devs. had to use the downloaded patch, but no errors. :)
Great job team!
Too bad about the smf server side glitch, but these things happen.
Appreciate the hard work you all did on this update. :)
Even with modified Source and Language files the patch seems to have installed flawlessly on the first attempt, which usually never happens for me. Nice work. ;)
Thank you SMF Team! My main forum and my test site are working flawlessly.
Thanks
Good job, and thank you!
Thank you friends! :)
I need some help here if its possible I have two forums which I upgraded a couple of years ago to version 2 and have been upgrading since but this new one I cant do through the softacoulous and when I try through the forum I get
./Themes/classic/Post.template.php Test failed (Ignore Errors)
2. Replace ./Themes/classic/Post.template.php Test failed
I am on 2.0.9 version
what do I do in this case?

sorry I had no idea there was one, I just joined today, but I fixed the problem and its done so I came back to say thanks for all the posts and update too
Rainbow Dash: Aww yeah! Post preview got fixed! Now that's what I call 20% cooler.
Thank you for the update! I had an error on my website for a long site, it just showed random questio marks and nnot my site, and it only happened on specific browsers. I haven't had the time to find a solution for it but since I updated my site to 2.0.10, the error has been gone! Let's hope it's permanently gone now :D
Once again, thank you for the update and for the amazing work and effort pit into Smf! :D

Same exact issue here on several installs. :(
already answered several times...
it's an issue with some people who made updates to language files in a certain way - and not an issue with the release itself. It is also ignorable, since it is only a version number in the file header/comments.
& done. All smooth. Thanks.
Great work, Thanks!
Thank you very much to the team for the update.
Much appreciated.

Quick question, just upgraded from 2.0.9 to 2.0.10. Can I delete the rest of the SMF updates and plugins? Except 2.0.10 of course. TIA for any help.
Yes... However, I must again remind people that THIS TOPIC IS NOT FOR SUPPORT
My apologies, please move to appropriate thread. Thanks for answering my question.
Congrats to the developers. I think this may be the last release of smf 2.0.XX.

I had the exact same issue too. Mine is an upgraded site. Fixed manually OK though. Also had to change permissions on index.php and SSI.php.

Hi there...
Please help...this is the error I get when I click install - my current version is: Forum version: SMF 2.0.9
Error in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.
thank you

Oh, and you need to include a better description of the error. Eg: which file(s) fail to update ;)

I'm sorry...do not come here often...I will go to the board advised...blessings!
I wasn't picking on you specifically so no worries. :)
Maybe something like 'This Announcement Is Not For Support!' should be added to the title?

No thanks, I'd rather have a clean topic title. ;) If people refuse to read the first post and the repeated statements: that's their problem.
We should probably just completely ignore such requests until they learn to read, maybe that'll give a little push to do so in the future. :P
No matter how many times we say it, it won't be paid attention to. Guess it's futile. ;)
I've ensured it can't be missed in the first post now though... Let's see how many people will still ignore it. :)
Cool. 'Twas just a suggestion as I'm sure you know.
I'll make a bet will you that people will still ask if ya want. :P

No excuse, but I did the upgrade and responsive curve beta mod on our forum the same day. (unpinning the 2.010 thread browser tab)
Thanks.
Do we have a "patch notes" list somewhere for these updates? I can never find it if there is.
you mean the change log? it is on the downloads page http://download.simplemachines.org/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_2-0-10_changelog.txt
