Title: After moving to another Server the forum looks quiet wierd.
Post by: DarkTexas on September 26, 2015, 04:27:10 AM
Hi,

today I moved my Forums, Datebase etc to another Server; the Problem is, the forum looks kinda wierd now and posts are not showing up.
I've checked in phpMyAdmin if the Posts etc are there, they are there.

What could be/is wrong?

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.upload.glj-ps2.de%2Fimages%2F10-48-33_26.09.15.png&hash=3ae3606d73371c0ba12ca8aea775bf88d12936c5)

Regs,

Dark

P.S: That's happening for on all Themes, event the default one.

btw, that's how it should look (and how it is looking on the old Server!):

I am stumped...   the content is not even there -- so, it has to be something in the code - because the post data is not even being loaded into the page at all.  Actually....  something is killing the entire thread at the start of or just before the start of the post content - because nothing AFTER the post title and poster information is getting displayed at all

but, on the portal homepage, the content IS getting displayed.

check your display.template.php

Should i post the display.template.php here?

IF I would have to create a new Forum that would be a bit.. Sad cos of the amount of Posts and members :<

the posts are all still there (as far as I can tell -- you could check the smf_message table in the database to be certain)

the problem seems to be on the display end of that content, for some reason

It's really very strange, code is just cut off after date and time.  I would do a clean 2.0.11 install in a different directory, connect it to same database, see if everything's there, then reinstall your theme and see what you get.  Problem appears to be either in Display.template.php or /Sources/Display.php.  Your database is probably ok so content shouldn't be affected, and you still have access to the original.  Did you patch to 2.0.11 or do a full install?

now all Mods are gone, Themes are gone, but, It's working, That's all that counts.

Somehow, when I want to e.g. configure some Mods which I used to install new there is something wrong, like the tables.. I dunno, I mean like you dont have the option to change settings for mods what have been installed on the forums before; like empty places.

OK.
Now - things are working. Good.
We have now confirmed that the issue was due to a mod.

NOW!
ONE AT A TIME....  reinstall the mods.
in between each... TEST.

When something fails... STOP.
Don't add any more mods.
COme back and let us know what started happening and we will help you debug that specific issue.

You were doing well last night, clean install with your database intact.  You had over 60 mods installed, might be a good idea to run fix_packages.php (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Manually_setting_a_package_installed_or_uninstalled) before you try to reinstall all the mods.  The mods are removed when you do a clean install, but they leave things behind in the database.

Well, Hello Folks.

We had to move Servers again, since we had troubles on 1and1 with the Database. However, this Problem is Back. Exactly the same problem as two years ago...

Take a look at https://gljclan.com/index.php?topic=1784.msg5939#new as example, same problem.

:(

I checked the Error logs,.. only 1 error when opening the post, and also an error when going in the error logs itself.

Zeile: 287

I know the Database is corrupted anyway, had Errors saying we are using SMF xx.13 but the Database seems to be older or something.. :/

P.S.: I have (of course) already used repair_settings.php

It looks like your smf messages table did not transfer correctly

confirm the import of the smf_messages table - if it is not all there, confirm that your backup has the entire table

You don't, by any chance, have multiple overlapping tables in your gljforums_ database? I mean, some prefixed "smf_" and others prefixed "forums_" ?
Title: Re: After moving to another Server the forum looks quiet wierd.
Post by: Chen Zhen on February 15, 2017, 05:19:42 PM

DarkTexas,
You allow guests to post?

Do you still have access to the original server db at this point? (did the old & new overlap to still allow access?)
I'm not sure if your amount of messages content will normally cause an issue but you can try exporting the original db from the first server in 2 chunks.

On the original server first clear out all logs to minimize some column length.
Export all but the messages table to a gzip & then export just the messages table to a gzip and on the new server you import both gzip files.
It's just an idea since it sounds like the messages table possibly got corrupted although the amount of threads seem too low to cause an issue.

The error you previously reported is from the social login modification.
You can attempt to fix the issue with that one mod to see if it's related.

Failing that (or if you don't know how to do that)...
Last time you had this issue it was resolved by applying the SMF large upgrade package (to remove all modification file edits).
Why don't you try going through the same process as last time?
Remember to use the repair tool to remove all hooks directly after using the upgrade package.
Then install the latest compatible mods.
It's a pain in the arse due to the amount of mods you use but it will omit any issue caused by a mod.

The problem is, reinstalling the whole board every 2 years is kinda annoying. As you already said, having a lot of mods and changes on the board won't make this easier, it's a pain in the ass..

Im trying to find a solution without reinstalling this whole stuff..

The main problem here is, it's a clan website, our memberd are already pissed about this because they actually want to use the forum, with the design and mods. Changing everything a while is contraproductive :(

Additional Information:

When navigating to the Modfication Settings, there's also not all Mods listed, just a few. When trying to use the direct Path (e.g. https://gljclan.com/index.php?action=admin;area=regcenter;sa=agreement) it says "The page gljclan.com does not work", happening to like 50% of the Mods.

Same for the Stats Center, https://gljclan.com/index.php?action=stats - I can not open it.

Something here goes completely wrong now..

Something is awry with your DNS settings.
If I do a DNS test, it passes (look at ADVANCED):
http://dnscheck.pingdom.com/?domain=gljclan.com

.. but if I do a reverse DNS test on your host name, it resolves to an IP that is not in your DNS configuration:
https://www.debouncer.com/reverse-dns-check

After moving to the new server did you contact the Registrar & give the proper new IP address(es)?
Did the new host configure the DNS settings properly?

I should be able to access your site via the IP, but I can not so I know something is wrong.

You can not use the IP because it's managed via Plesk, and the IP is not the Webdir for the domain. That's normal

there is something definitely wring with your setup...

I have been running one site for 10 years now, including several server changes and the upgrade from 1.0 to 1.1 and then to 2.0

and I have never had the issues that you are seeing...

So...  the issue right now is that messages appear blank... yes?
The main reason that happens is because the messages table is not complete...

the second reason that may happen is becuse your display or display.template files are borked.

Quote...When navigating to the Modfication Settings, there's also not all Mods listed...

Perhaps you accidentally removed hooks from the settings table ie. via the repair settings link (bottom right in its template).
The mods that applied manual edits will show if you copied those files over from the old host but the mods that use hooks will not if you deleted those settings by mistake.

.. but that would not explain your stats not working or a few other things.
