Hello,
Our forum runs on version 2.0.12 and suddenly received a message that the forum had crashed. It said it was marked as crashed and last repair failed.
We tried a repair at the host which did not take. We then logged in at phpmyadmin and repaired the log_online table (as was suggested in a different yet similar thread here). Now we get the message that the server is busy. Forum is still down. Now what do I do? Please help me.
Best,
Janet.

Do you have a database backup?
My partner may have one. Is that the only way to solve this problem? :-[
You can try repairing all tables in phpmyadmin, but you're getting a connection error, which is odd. Are your database credentials in Settings.php correct?
have you contacted your host to see if they know what is going on? if not i would start there.
I will try to repair all the tables now. I don't know if the credentials are correct -- how can I tell? Sorry, not a specialist here as you might have noticed :-[

Not that we are aware of. We always run our repairs there and it has always worked so far. Except this time.
You need to confirm $db_server, $db_name, $db_user, $db_passwd in Settings.php. That info should be in the mysql database section of your host control panel. You can edit the file manually, or use repair_settings.php (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Repair_settings.php).

^ If nothing has changed, your db may be offline for some reason at host's end.
I had to disable server load balancing...

I'll check this first then. Nothing has changed, no upgrade or anything. It happened out of the blue. Although come to think of it, people did have troubles logging in for a while.

Tried this. Did not work :( :(
then ask your host to help you. they should be able to verify the connection details are correct and there are no issues with the database server. if they are unable to help, i would start looking for a new more helpful host.
It worked now! Not sure why the settings had changed but now it works! Made a backup immediately. Thank you for your help!
My host has the annoying habit of occasionally changing my account server address without notification. It's supposed to be 'transparent' to the user, my domain addresses still work, but the forum internal urls do not, and have to be changed manually. Your host may have changed server address of the database without telling you, which would cause db connection to fail until you fixed it.
The net works in mysterious ways. (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thekrashsite.com%2Fpics%2Fidk.gif&hash=9ac7acf13f4cfaa1b58390444a38dea11e5473d2)
