I can't seem to get any sound from the garland bulbs breaking. It used to work just fine last time I used it. Anyone got any ideas?

Sound needs a working Adobe flash plugin in your browser.
Flash is now mostly deprecated or disabled by default in browsers. There's been JS solutions for audio for years now.

Interesting that they don't mention the persistent security problems they were unable to fix.
It seems how this mod is draining a lot of cpu. Any idea how to adjust it? Garland and lamps are disabled. Also snow is too fast.

Please do not be unconstructive and do not write if you do not know if I read it or not.
Stay away from comments (Adobe flash plugin is something that is obsolete, Flash is now mostly deprecated or disabled by default in browsers).

The problem is that what this mod 'Snow And Garland' should have flash on and this is a big nonsense for this mode. We all know that today 'Flash' is disabled by default almost in all browsers for example in some web browser you need to install a special plugin to have 'Flash' turned on
and that is why I think that part should be edited / redecorated in this beautiful mod.
Nope... the "problem" is that this mod does not work the way you want it to work, therefore you call it broken. That attitude is the real issue here...
If you had actually read the whole thread and understood the issue was that you had flash disabled, then your statement should have been....
I know that I need flash for this mod, as written. Is there any chance that this mod might be redesigned to use some other method, given the recent warnings and the fact that most browsers disable flash?

You did not understand me well. I did not write that mod is "broken", I wrote that it should be updated (part related to sound). :o

About the politeness, I do not see what I wrote badly unless if you interpret badly what I wrote. All in all I did not mean anything bad.
This is a very good mod which needs to be updated because today's browsers work differently.

Does this work on any other theme than default, and if not, how can it be made to?
It worked for me without a problem on NightBreeze theme, I had to enable 'Flash' to hear the sound though.
It does however prevent embeded 'Youtube' videos on my 'Home' page from displaying. :'(
I will upwnload an updated version with a working sound soon.

What should this mean now?
I wrote that I expect him to make an update before Christmas because 'Snow And Garland' is Christmas mod and if it does update the mod after the Christmas (this year) it can then make a update the following year 2019 at the beginning of December. In any case then there is no need to rush.

This is a nice mod - clean, simple with no noticable hit on performance nor conflict with other mods. One suggestion for any future release would be the ability to make the garland even smaller but otherwise great. Thanks, digger. :)

Still having one small issue. On first page load there is no sound. Refresh the page and sound works. Not a big deal but just odd and repeatable.
Works fine for me. Does it do that in other browsers and/or themes?
Good call Steve, seems to be a Chrome issue. Actually Vivaldi which is based on Chromium. Works fine in Firefox and IE.

It's a Chrome browser auto-play-type restriction. You can start sound playback only immediately in response to a user action like click or tap.
Huh, didn't know that. Sure enough I went and tried it and your absolutely right. As soon as I click anywhere on the screen the sound works. Thanks for the tip digger.

I do not have that problem. Everything works well for me. (Using Chrome and Safari).
I just discovered this mod the first week in December. My users LOVE it! Didn't have sound but that's okay, it was still fun.
Is there any way it could be modified to change the lightbulbs to something else? Such as little hearts for Valentine's Day or shamrocks - or various country flags? Or.. anything else one might want to put across the top so users can break them?

Unfortunately, this slows my site down for some users when the snow is turned on. No big deal though. The garland is the most fun anyway. ;D
MaryLou did some customization on this mod with a custom theme, have it running here (http://www.thekrashsite.com/smf20/). Garland doesn't display on tabs, and snow does slow them down considerably.
All is well with this mod on 2.0.18. :)
