Hello
So far I avoided fixing this issue by manually approving each new member and his/her new posts but now I would like to arrange the permissions and the membergroups in a way that each new registered member is automatically approved once he/she confirms his/her email address (and I know how to set this option) but his/her first post will always require my moderation so that I can filter the spammers.
I thought that all I needed to do was to set membergroups based on post count (see attached images) but either something is not working or I am doing something wrong because I tried right now creating a new member for a test and logging with his credential from another browser, I could post the first message without moderation.
Can you please confirm you have the "Enable permissions for post count based groups" setting enabled? (Admin > Members > Permissions > Settings)
And remove the right to post without needing approval from Regular Members...

I don't understand that, sorry...where did you see that option?
Thanks
It's in permissions.
The way the system works, there are two permissions that control this. There is the permission to post with approval, and the permission to post without approval. By default, regular member has the permission to post without needing approval - and this overrides the need for approval. A user is in two groups at all times so if they are in the 0-post count group they're also going to be in Regular Member as well.

right!!
Now I understand the issue, they were getting the permissions from the first group, so I need to change a few things, thank you!
Last issue: how do i add new permission groups?
Nevermind, I got it, thanks everyone!
