Title: SMF creating thumbnails by itself???
Post by: Dylert on April 19, 2017, 03:31:13 PM
Yesterday I created a new attachment folder because the one I used was full. In 24 hours the new folder now contains 8000 files! I created another folder about an hour ago and already there are 341 files. I know there has been posted about 10 files the last hour. Where does all the other files come from? My forum is about Greece and when I check the filenames in the database I can see that a lot of files has names related to Greece, so I don't think it is something dangerous. But how can I stop this?

If you have attachments that are pictures, SMF will make thumbnails for them. It will also regenerate any that were deleted previously.

Yes, the attachments are pictures, and I have set my settings to make thumbnails out of them.
Even if SMF regenerate any that were deleted previously it can't be 8000 files in 24 hours. I can't understand it! It has not been like this before.

If you have that many overall, sure it can - if guests can see attachments, search engines will cause regeneration.

Also, avatars are stored there too.
