Title: Moving to SMF from JCINK
Post by: edums4lyfe on April 28, 2017, 11:50:01 PM
Hello!

I hope this is an okay place to post this/okay topic to post. My forum is looking to move from JCINK to SMF. However, we weren't sure if a conversion would be possible since I was reading that JCINK might use an outdated system. We are really wanting to move to SMF to get away from some of the issues we have with the ownership of JCINK, but would hate to lose our 50,000+ posts.

Any help would be wonderful. And if this wasn't posted in the proper place, my apologies.

It's the right place and Jcink is a hosting company, not a type of forum. Apparently they use a modified version of IPB as noted in this thread: Moving from jcink to smf (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=478301.0)

I don't know if any converter will work with it. Maybe one of the other team members has some insight on it.

If you can provide a sample of the database, I can code a converter for this. :)
