Title: IMGUR Embedded In SMF?
Post by: CDLehner on July 01, 2017, 10:53:37 AM
Sorry; probably a silly question.

I just switched from the (criminal) Photo*ucket...that I've been using for years; to IMGUR. But I can't seem, to get their links to enbed on my 2.0.14 board.

http://imgur.com/a/6zc2n

nor...

<blockquote class="imgur-embed-pub" lang="en" data-id="a/6zc2n"><a href="//imgur.com/6zc2n">COVERS</a></blockquote><script async src="//s.imgur.com/min/embed.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Thanks,
CD

that won't work... smf does not allow HTML in posts..

You would use an IMG (BBC) tag...

[img]https://i.imgur.com/9BmmaPW.jpg[/img]

images need to be actual IMAGE files... not pages like http://imgur.com/a/6zc2n (that is a web page with an image in it, not the image itself)

Based on your post I just added support in my S.A.V.E mod to auto embed imgur

Which is fine; but am I doing something "wrong"?

So VB...I am very grateful, for you're accommodating the IMGUR imbed; but I'm not crazy, about the "framing" (understanding that's not on your end; but rather the code they give).

You see...I've been with PhotoF*ckIt, all these years; until they decided to pull...what I consider, that near criminal act.

Now I'm looking for a new host. I've tried IMGUR, FLICKR, and Google Pics; and can't seem to get any of them, to embed...the way PB simply used to.

Sorry; any help you could provide? A point in the right direction??

Thanks,
CD

This mod works great although it crops the thumbnail view.

Postimage has their own mod as well and scales the thumbnail down correctly.

https://postimages.org/plugins (https://postimages.org/plugins)

Either one works equally well and are extremely easy to use for the technically challenged users.

Why do you need to email them? It's a simple, free download.

It'd be nice to have a Mod where you could upload to Imgur via a button shortcut in the Editor, then automatically pastes the BBCode in the message once upload is complete.

postimages.org has a mod that does this ;).

Thanks for the tip. Will check it out. I wonder if images uploaded there are unlimited?

What do you mean by unlimited? There is a max file size limit, but other than that, I don't think there are any other limits.

Oh, yeah, and you can't direct link images that are larger than a certain width and height. I think that the max allowed width and height are 1024 x 768. If any of these values are hit, the image gets resized and you get a link to a smaller image, but within an URL tag that will lead to the larger image if you click on it ;).

Hello folks,

There is an option to add picture through postimages.com. Is it possible to be made another similar mod for imgur since these pictures can be embedded in smf 2.0.15?
Here is an example: https://postimages.org/smf

Thanks!

Yes, it can be done. imgur does offer an API.

This is several years old, however, I have used Imgur on other sites and have never had isuses. I trust them more over other image host/uploaders.

I'd be willing to pay for such mod.
