Cesium is a new theme for SMF 2.1 which rewrites the CSS and several templates in SMF 2.1's default theme, to present a modern look for SMF 2.1beta3. Its developed on laptop and mobile simultaneously and utilize some different thinking in what a theme should look like on mobile/touch devices.
Main features beside this optimization, are "boardtypes": special templates that mimic functions that normally is provided by mods. Currently there are templates for "news", "galleries", "blogs", "downloads", "bugtracker" and "docs", most of them you can view in action on this site. Individual boards are selected to be part of these sections and the function also provide s a few new BBC tags that will only work within them.
This theme marks the first of a series.
You can see and download the theme at http://www.bjornhkristiansen.com/smf21 , but note its a WIP - more tweaks are needed along with display bugs still present. However, it should stable enough to be usable and for trying out.
Bloc, can't actually see the theme on your site as guest, just the 2.1 default. But going by the info and screenshots it looks like you made good progress. Look forward to seeing it in action.

Agreed, looks really nice. 8) The search icon is defo off, in firefox, chrome, and edge. It's ok in IE11 though. ;)
Thanks for the heads up, guys. :) I already added several fixes to my development version and will continue to enhance the theme. Should be in effect on the site too, though the released version is not updated - yet.
Anyone know when SMF 2.1 beta4 will be officially released,at least ballpark date?
Probably we'll go for RC1 not Beta 4. And no, we don't know when it will be released.

Well, it might still be up for an actual theme - some of the elements in Cesium are taken from it. My goal now with Cesium was a 2.1 theme, while the UrbanLife concept and more importantly: code(becasue I did make some progress on that) was for 2.0. But its a good concept, I'd like to do more with it.
Updates: The Cesium theme have been updated with several fixes and tweaks, most of them discovered when working on a new theme (...) that share the same base files/styles. It now also have an option where it checks if any other bloctheme exists, and offer to copy over the theme settings from it.
That means you can transfer those settings easily wthout having to do it manually. Note that it only works for certain settings used in blocthemes - other theme settings are ignored.
