Title: Question Regarding Copyright Notice
Post by: CNCQuilter on September 07, 2017, 05:38:56 PM
Sincerest thanks for the Simple Machine Forum application. It is exact the tool I need to establish an interactive discussion group. I have read your Three Clause License, Agreement, and Copyright FAQs. However I still have a question wrt to copyright.

In the upper right corner of the page, there is a reference to Simple Machines Forum and the smflogo.png.
May I simply delete this snippet of code from the stylesheet or is this display considered part of the copyright notice?

Thank you again for an excellent open source tool.

You can remove it, most forums do.  SM prefers you retain the copyright in the footer, but you can remove that as well.  However, in doing so you will basically be giving up support.  The semi-official policy here is that support is not provided to forums that remove the copyright.  Many volunteers have put a good deal of time and effort into developing and supporting the software, and deserve the courtesy of being credited.
