The reason why I wouldn't save these emots at true transparency was because anti-alias was used. Had I saved out in true transparency the edging would have been jaggy rough looking. Also, Because there's curved areas this only adds to the problems (when using true transparency) as still opting for this would have also resulted in jaggy/rough looking edges.
As you can see (Screenshot Below) You'll see the quality difference. Just to add, because I added feathering to the base image it only makes it look even worse when saved at true Transparency.

I could (pending on time I have) modify a set to your choosing. What I mean is, I could modify in the way of saving them out to compliment your background colour.

That said, I am in the process of creating a static (Non Animated) set in
.PNG this way they will look of high quality on all backgrounds. However, Saving as .PNG will still pose display problems in IE Browsers because of the lack of alpha transparency support although I do know there is a hack you can pace on your board to rectify this problem.

I created the emoticons in Photoshop. With the crazy green emots I used the masking features, feather feature and a whole host of other techniques. I then imported it across to Imageready and put them through the animated process. That said, I did animate one or two of them in photoshop as I had to create multiple layers of the base image as I was moving/manipulating
Paths/Anchor points (I think it was the bouncing emot). :)
