Title: Photobucket hosted images gone.. is this a possible solution?
Post by: spitfire80 on September 29, 2017, 02:01:21 PM
Hello All,

Im a moderator of a film poster forum (SMF v 2.0.13 software) where a good percentage of our members were posting pix that were hosted in their photobucket libraries. As we all know, a couple months ago, Photobucket, without warning, disabled 3rd party hosting unless one was to upgrade to their 499.00/year plan.

So now, all the hosted images are nothing but a generic, odometer image.

A fellow member sent me this link which looks like another photo-hosting site called imagur, would be able to convert photobucket URLs to imagur URLS, but somehow also connects to a forum's raw database records. It also warns that one should understand the codes before attempting or damage could be done to one's forum.

Here's the imagur link:  https://github.com/pastudan/photobucket-imgur

Has anyone here ever tried this? Or maybe familiar with using this process with SMF forum software?

It would be great if the conversion worked smoothly so that all the removed photobucket pix would re-appear as imagur-hosted pix, but I wouldnt try this without some insight or direction.

Thanks in advance.  :)

Jeff
