Title: Push Notifications! (Firefox and Such)

Hello, I have a great idea, SMF should have push notifications so people can get notified (when the site is closed) when they get PM'd or someone replied to their post, etc.

I only know that theres the SMFPacks Alertmod

but can't really afford it, does anyone know of a free alternative?

It's already in SMF 2.1.

great, would you recommend me to upgrade to the beta 3 release of 2.1?
should i stay at 2.0.1.4?

1- you should not use the beta version for a live site, unless you know exactly what you are doing with code and databases

2- you Should be running 2.0.15
