Title: New install. No images?
Post by: mfabache on January 13, 2018, 09:51:34 PM
hi!  New user (to SMF) here.

Just installed SMF using: linuxhelp.com/how-to-install-simple-machine-forum-on-ubuntu-17-04/
(Note: I *DO NOT* recommend watching the video, the text, however, is very good)

Environment:
Ubuntu 17.04
MySql version:mysql  Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.7.20
PHP version: PHP 7.0.22-0ubuntu0.17.04.1 [http://34.233.128.247/info.php]
SMF version: 2.0.15
(not sure how to get http version)
Amazon host: T2.micro (cpu/memory seem fine)

I am merely testing the viability of SMF, but after the successful? install, the images/rendering do not appear!  Yet, I am thankful, I got the install completed!

Here is the forum test:  34.233.128.247/smf/index.php

Any guidance?  perhaps it is a php issue -or- a USER issue? :)

Best,Mick

Get, upload and run reapir_settings.php

EDIT:

I tried and retired (Restore Settings) and EVENTUALLY we got things to work.  ALL BETTER.  Stand down.

Thank you for your guidance, Kindred!

Best,
Michael

Tried the online repair tool, but negative results.  However thanks for the tip.

I'm still getting, what seems to be a correct install, but just not rendered correctly and no images.  Should I just redo the install?
