Really like the design... it's modern, dark, but not too dark (I usually don't like dark themes) ;).

I love it!  The colours, the modernness, the blockyness.... and it looks amazing on mobile!

A couple of things on mobile though, well 3:

1. The menu opens and closes but is invisible, you can see in the screenshot that only the very top slice is visible;

2. The logo disappears off the screen;

3.  The news fader displays on all pages instead of just the board index.

All these can be seen in the attached screenshot.  I'm viewing this on an iPhone X running iOS 11.2.6.

1. I don't understand how that can be, I tried recreating the problem using emulators, but no luck
I'll keep trying to fix it though.

2. Should be fixed.

3. I added an option to restrict it to Boardindex only (on mobile)

Thanks you all for the feedback

1. It's theme 20 on chalkcat.com if it helps to see it there.  I do have a ton of mods but I'm without a test site at the moment to experiment with a clean install.

2. The logo looks great now, thank you!

3. Good idea!  However this setting currently seems to disable the news fader from all pages, including the board index...

Edit: Just spotted a minor detail in that the "latest member" fa-user icon still appears in the info centre (both desktop and mobile) when " Show latest member on board index" is disabled in the theme settings.  It doesn't show the latest member, just the icon.

That has to do with the boardindex testing condition, seems like I had to tweak it for certain forums  ???

Just to let you know that other members on my forum report that the menu is working perfectly on their mobiles, so it seems it's just my phone doing something funky.  I'll update my iOS and see if that helps.

I've been trialling various responsive themes with a view to replacing the theme we've been using for the past 6 years with something more modern.  I think this one could be the winner  :D

I don't think it's your phone, some mobile browsers sometimes require workarounds  :-\

It's a very eye-pleasing theme. I like the search modal, I think I might have to do something like that on my forum.

A little off-topic but how do you create those promotional images of the website being displayed on different screens?

Thank you

if this is what you mean:

Then just navigate to Current Theme (Admin->Configuration->Current Theme)
Scroll down to social media links.

If it does not bother you too much I would like to change the icons with this "fas fa-at" and the "more" label with "Contact US".

1.  Lazarus doesn't display bold text in posts.

2.  Quick modify doesn't work. It lets you edit but when you click "save" it throws you back to the first post in the topic and the edit is not saved.

Cool theme but due to the mods I have installed I'm not going to install this on my production 2.0.15 site
(too much hassle to make the theme changes for all the mods)

I'm wondering if an SMF 2.1 compatible version is planned?

Hello,

I like this theme a lot and I started to modify it... first thing to do is to change background color and insert some image.
To do this you have to go to /public_html/Themes/lazarus_2/css/index.min.css

And when I opened the css file index.min.css I was confused when I saw all styles written on a single line.  :-\
Is there any way to change this and styles to be written on multiple separate lines one bellow another?

ps- I uploaded the css file in attachment of this post.

Thanks!  :)

If you go to the css folder, you'll find index.min.css the compressed index.css file, so just open index.css and you'll find everything in order

Although I really don't recommend this since it'll be bad on mobile and other small devices, but if you really wish to go through with it
replace this file with the one attached "index.template.php"

and in Admin->Configuration->Current Theme add a link to your banner in Logo image URL
And don't turn on news fader :---)

Also it's hard to find classes in index.css because when using Inspect Element it shows the results from index.min.css.

Even when I'm using !important as a rule.

That's because index.css isn't loaded, If you want to use index.css instead of index.min.css, open index.template.php go to line 69 where you'll find
echo '
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="', $settings['theme_url'], '/css/index', $context['theme_variant'], '.min.css?fin20" />

remove .min
echo '
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="', $settings['theme_url'], '/css/index', $context['theme_variant'], '.css?fin20" />

don't forget to remove any !important rules you added by the way

https://postimg.cc/image/78r471xk9/

In that case set the background image to the body, and remove the header's background image

Something like this

header {
    background: transparent;
}header .frame:before {
    background: none;
}body {
    background: #eff1f2 url(../images/banner_free.jpg) no-repeat;
    background-size: 100%;
}

I want to add a menu item back to a main site as I use SMF for a subforum, but need it on the top somewhere.
Is this easily done on this Theme?

Depends, if your menu uses "dropmenu" class than yes, it'd be easy, if not you'd have to write some CSS lines just to make it responsive

You should just test and see for yourself

Thank You

Sure, just open index.min.css and edit the color
.catbg,.catbg2,tr.catbg td, tr.catbg2 td,tr.catbg th,tr.catbg2 th{color: #fff;font-family: Roboto,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size: 1.1em;font-weight: 700;background: #4683c7;padding: 0 8px;}
would become .catbg,.catbg2,tr.catbg td, tr.catbg2 td,tr.catbg th,tr.catbg2 th{color: #fff;font-family: Roboto,arial,helvetica,sans-serif;font-size: 1.1em;font-weight: 700;background: black;padding: 0 8px;}

Of course there other things colored in blue, just edit the file to change other colors

Hi there again...

Avatars in topics are not well in a position... and also "view profile" icon is not displayed.
The icon is there in /Themes/lazarus_2/images/icons/profile_sm.gif but somehow it doesn't displayed.

How can I solve this?
Thanks.  :)

edit: also I am using SmartPortal.

Yea, that's due to simpleportal
open index.css & index.min.css, look for td .avatar change it to td>.avatar

As for the gif image, that's a weird one, try deleting it, and then uploading it(the one I attached)

I've changed this color style for quick reply because the color is overlapping with textbox color:

.roundframe {
    padding: 0;
    background: #f5f5f5;
}

Changed to:
.roundframe {

}

Please how do get ads in the message index on this theme to display,  I am getting error with ad management mod.
The error is coming from the "if" statement from this code below.
   //Display Ads on the Message index
   if (function_exists("show_underchildren"))
   {
      $ads = show_underchildren();
      if(!empty($ads))
         if($ads['type']==0)
            echo $ads['content'];
         else
            eval($ads['content']);
      unset($ads);
   }

Which I placed just after this code below in the themes/lazarus/messageindex.template.php
global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $modSettings, $txt;

You've probably stuck your code inside an echo statement without regard to the required string syntax. Attach your template file.

Well it would have been better to attach the file, but from your screenprint you need to change

Code (find) Select
global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $modSettings, $txt,

to this

Code (changeto) Select
global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $modSettings, $txt, $memberContext;

Then remove line 28.

I really like this theme, and especially the way it looks on mobile screens.  We're using for the launch of a new forum (https://www.armchairdragoons.com/forum) I'm setting up now.

Does anyone know off the top of their heads if there is an ad manager that works well with this theme?  The one I was planning to use is giving me errors when testing the package.

Thanks!

The mod is  Ad Management mod

See attached image for errors

I've tried 2 other ad packages, and one of them only puts the ads on the homepage and the other just creates text-based ad blocks (no images) and those ad blocks never displayed in the theme anyway, so I turned it back off.
We used to use AdSeller Pro (https://www.smfhacks.com/ad-seller-pro.php) on another site I was managing and it worked great, but I don't have a spare $50 laying around right now so I was trying to do this on the cheap.  :-[

I see, here's what you can do, attach MessageIndex.template.php & index.template.php files here, I'll make the changes manually, once I attach the changed files, go through with the installation and after that replace the two files on your forum with the ones I gave you

this might fall into the category of "dumb question" but I'm wondering about the links in the heading of the forum

Right now, when I click on the banner at the top of the forum, it's linked to the home page of the forum.

Is there a way to either (1) redirect that link to the home page of the overall site, rather than just the forum, or (2) create 2 links so we could link both the forum home and the overall site home?

Thanks.  LOVE this theme and our initial participants are drooling over it - especially the mobile-friendliness of it - compared to our old forum on our old site.

Well you can do both at the same time, if you change the logo's link to your overall homepage, you'll still have the menu button 'HOME' that takes to the forum

open index.template.php
look for if(empty($context['header_logo_url_html_safe'])) {
$site_slogan = empty($settings['site_slogan']) ? '' : $settings['site_slogan'];
echo'
<h1 class="forumtitle">
<a href="', $scripturl, '" class="">
', !empty($settings['header_fa']) ? '<div class="side_icon float"><i class="fas '.$settings['header_fa'].'"></i></div>' : '', '<div>', $context['forum_name'].'<br><span>'.$site_slogan.'</span>', '</div></a>
</h1>';
}
else
echo'
<h1 class="forumtitle imgHead">
<a href="', $scripturl, '" class="imgHeader">
<img src="' . $context['header_logo_url_html_safe'] . '" alt="' . $context['forum_name'] . '" />
</a>
</h1>';

You want to edit both ', $scripturl, ' to /

We were able to get these changes in place, along with a new header graphic.

I know it sounds borderline cheesy, but this theme is working out fantastically.

We put our own post/thread icons in place (still wish there was a good way to create different defaults for these (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=560905)) but otherwise have only customized the member group names/graphics and left pretty much everything else stock, since it's working so well for us.

I appreciate the responsiveness with which you've tackled questions, too.

You always wonder about using "free" themes, mods, etc, but this one has succeeded like crazy, so thanks again for all the work you put into it.

Hi again,

I'm trying to install our pro ad package that we've used elsewhere before.  It's a great ad package that covers everything we need, and with a solid UI.

I'm getting some "test failed" errors with the Lazarus theme when trying to install it, and wondering what info you'd need to help troubleshoot the installation process.
We use it to put ads in the 3 places on the site: top of page, after first post (on those pages), and bottom of page.  Each of those areas is individually enabled within the ad manager, but with the failures during the install test, I suspect there are changes in the code by the theme from what the ad manager is looking for.

What info do you need from us to help find/fix the errors to see if we can get this to install?

Thanks!

Is this what you're looking for?

This is from the very first "test failed" message, using the pop-up accessed from the icon on the left

Code: (Find)
echo '
</div>
</div></div>';

Code: (Add Before)

// Begin Ad Seller Pro Location - Right Side of the Forum
if (ShowAdLocation(9,0,true) || ShowAdLocation(10,0,true))
{
echo '</td>';
global $sourcedir;
include_once $sourcedir . "/adseller2.php";

$adSellerAdData =  ShowAdLocation(10);
if ($adSellerAdData != false)
{
echo '<td valign="top">';

echo $adSellerAdData;

echo '</td>';
}
echo '</tr></table>';
}
// End Ad Seller Pro Location - Right Side of the Forum

// Begin Ad Seller Pro Location - Overall Footer

global $sourcedir;

$adSellerAdData =  ShowAdLocation(2);

Basically when an edit fails, it just doesn't find the exact code it is looking for, and you may need to do some manual changes. Manual Installation of Mods (https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Manual_installation_of_mods)

It is not so much an error to troubleshoot, than it is the package manager functioning as designed.

it's not really a problem that can be fixed, internet explorer just doesn't like the Google Font "Montserrat"
Best thing you can do is change the CSS so that the news section uses the other font instead.

You can do that by opening index.min.css located in lazarus20/css and then look for #newsfader :not(h3){font-weight:300;font-family:Montserrat;font-size:13px}

change it to
#newsfader :not(h3){font-weight:300;font-size:13px}

Is a solution in this way wrong?  Would you recommend it?

I've UPDATED (https://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2916) the package with a potential fix for the menu issue in some mobiles, some css fixes that had to be done, and added icon&label options for the External link.

Hi

The menu on mobile devices and on desktop browsers don't show the login/register button. Any idea what it could be?

How can I make the black banner (where the logo goes) shorter?

Or better yet is it possible to make it that the banner doesn't appear on mobile except for the main page?

Right now when I go to my forums on a mobile device the banner takes up half the screen

If you're not using any portals try this:

open index.template.php located in the theme directory (should be lazarus20)
look for <div id="upper_section" class="middletext wrapper">';

replace it with <div id="upper_section" class="middletext wrapper', empty($context['current_action']) || (!empty($context['current_action']) && $context['current_action']=='forum') ? '' : ' phoneNone', '">';

Edit: I changed the code above, it had a reversed logic :P

Thank you. Looks much better now.

When I click the buttons for unread/updated topics or anything in the menu it still comes up but it's fine. As long as the main forum wont have it.

As I'm typing this I see you edited your post I'll check if I put in the updated code. I'm assuming I did because it's working fine.

I just changed the code again and I think I messed it up somehow. Now it's showing the banner again. Here's what the code looks like. I might've replaced the wrong thing the second time.

Can I just reupload a fresh copy of the index.template.php file from the main downloaded zipped theme folder?

edit: I just attached the index.template file for you to check out

I fell like this is a dirt-simple question, but I can't figure it out.  I'm looking for where you'd grab a link to a specific post within a thread.

In the basic theme (like this board) you could click on the post title (usually just "Re:Thread Title") and it would give you the URL to the specific message within the thread.
(see attachment)

Where are those links in this theme?  I've tried a few options and can't figure it out and even looked in the admin console and can't find a place to toggle something on/off.

Help?

Thanks!

I just wanted to add this. You can quote a post and just copy the topic=xxxxmsg.xxxx that's in the beginning of the quote. then just add it after yoursite.com/index.php?

It's a little tedious but if need be can work.

I love this theme..Its the best one I have seen in a while that works perfect for mobile.  I have a two fold question.

One- I need the font bigger to satisfy Google.. I tried on Index.css but it did not change ..

I would like to change the width of the forum some..that I don't know where to go

So I did look at all 7 pages and could not find any answers to change the size of font when posting I thought I did it in the correct spot but I guess not..

I find that when you enable the news fader, there is a lag between the time the page loads and the news items show up. So you see multiple news times before the script comes in to limit 1 at a time. Is there a fix to that?

That's not really a feature I added, it's from the default theme, I never looked into how you can make that better I usually just remove it or install a different kind of plugin, like the one in SunRise.

Whatever it is, has nothing to do with the theme, someone had a similar issue a while back, it turned out they had a mod or something which converted youtube links to a video html code, you might have something similar, but the theme only adds the link to the href attribute, nothing more or less.

An update: It's the Ohara Youtube Embed mod. It adds a css class .youtube and uses that to track Youtube links. This theme also uses .youtube, so to fix the problem you need to change

.buttonLike.youtube:hover {  (in the index.css)

to

.buttonLike.youtube_1:hover {

and change (in index.template.php)

buttonLike invert icon_style tooltip youtube

to

buttonLike invert icon_style tooltip youtube_1

Title: Re: Lazarus
Post by: Antechinus on September 22, 2019, 06:03:43 PM
I had a bit of a play with the CSS on my beastie. Search gets tricky on small screens due to the size of the inputs. It's doable without much drama down to 320 wide, but catering for 240 is trickier. You can shrink them via CSS, but of course that means long search strings will be truncated visually, even though the input will still accept its normal length of content. Similar problem on some other templates too.

Login should be easy to tweak. Haven't done it yet, but will do later. I just had a quick look and it's mostly a matter of ditching the floats on the dd's and dt's, then setting width to auto. Should be fine down to 240 then.

ETA: Meh. Was so easy I did it now. Ok, first thing to do is find this in the default CSS:

.login
{
width: 540px;
margin: 0 auto;
}

Change it to:

.login
{
max-width: 540px;
margin: 0 auto;
}

That one simple change will make it look fine down to around a 400px screen, at least if you're using English. May break on a bit bigger screen in some other languages.

After that you'll need an extra tweak coming in via media query, with the break point chosen to suit your own preferences.

/* Equates to 384px at standard browser settings. */
@media screen and (max-width: 24em) {
.login dt, .login dd {
width: auto;
float: none;
text-align: start;
}
}

That's all it needs. Will be fine down to 240 wide if you use that. :)
I'm throwing this in my next RC.

(If anyone is wondering, text-align: start; is really useful. It sets text alignment back to whatever is native for the language being used, which makes it a much better reset a lot of the time. You could use text-align: left; but start is better, because it gives automatic RTL support. This means there is no need to duplicate the query in rtl.css.)

Yes, I did test it.

This is for 2.0.x, by the way, not for the 1.1.x your site runs.

ETA: Aha. I should have mentioned the edit was for the default template and CSS. If it has been changed for this theme then the edit wouldn't apply, but from what you said I was under the impression it hadn't been changed from default.

Hi all!!
First of all thanks for this theme, it's great.
But I have two problems:
1. Avatars in messages are displaced to the left.
2. When the session is started, at the top of the icons the user's avatar will undo the menu (I have changed the size of the avatars but this does not solve it, it remains shifted to the left).

Any ideas how can I fix it?

Title: Reply Titles
Post by: master_burn on June 02, 2021, 10:45:13 AM
I've got the same problem as bayonetbrant (see below), i know there is a workaround with grabbing the info by posting a quote but that is lets say not elegant and hard to explain to not tech savvy users.
Is there a plan to implement showing reply titles with klickable and copyable post-urls?

otherwise thanks for the great theme SychO - love it very much :)

can anyone point out to me a best practice to update a theme without losing customisations?
also how do i check which verson of lazarus i'm on?

I fell like this is a dirt-simple question, but I can't figure it out.  I'm looking for where you'd grab a link to a specific post within a thread.

In the basic theme (like this board) you could click on the post title (usually just "Re:Thread Title") and it would give you the URL to the specific message within the thread.
(see attachment)

Where are those links in this theme?  I've tried a few options and can't figure it out and even looked in the admin console and can't find a place to toggle something on/off.

Help?

Thanks!

any chance that this theme might get an update to be fully compatible with the 2.1.x version of SMF?

failing that, anyone got a 2.1.x compatible theme that's similar to this that they really like?

https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=themes  Choose the SMF 2.1 option on the toggle list and that will give you a list of all SMF 2.1 compatible themes.
Our lead customizer Diego does have a theme called Name X which is similar and has a variety of color options.

That would be up to the Author who has not been here in a bit.
