Yeah, I also like the mod, great work ;).

BTW, on your page (sycho.22web.org), if you scroll to the end, the contact icons don't show all the way on smaller resolutions (the last one loads only at the top). I'm on 1152 x 864 currently. Maybe you could shorten the distance between them so they could show up properly on lower screen resolutions ;).

Leaving my thoughts on the translation; it looks good but I would translate "HOF" (Hall of Fame) as "Salón de la fama" as well. Some spanish users may not know what does "HOF" means.

As for the mod, I haven't had a chance to try it but it's a really good idea. Nice job, SychO :)

Just tested the mod today, love it :D. And love the deactivate option :). You could have it installed and activate or deactivate it without having to uninstall it ;).

Just a though. When adding a class or a member, instead of the button saying "Submit Query" (which is of course the correct technical term), it could state "Add Class" and "Add Member". I'm only pointing this out since not all admins are technically inclined (although, IMO, they should have a general interest in technology) and might not understand what the button actually does ;).

I just left the buttons's default text tbh
Right, "Submit" for most browsers, and "Submit Query" for Firefox I believe ?
Next time I'll edit that, forgot it'd be different in some browsers.

That is my general doubt in itself but I was in doubt but "SDF" which would be "Hall of Fame" or to make it too long in the translation that I spend in several that made.

Some mod either changed the line in question, or just changed the line spacing(or smthn like that)
If you attach The File (Admin.php) I can edit it so that the install process is successful, however that could make one of your mod's un-installation process unsuccessful in the future

Otherwise you could manually make the changes related to the failure

No I can't determine which mod might've caused that, maybe if I have the file in question, but even than, I don't think it's possible.

Really cool, can verbiage for hall of fame or the titles for each be modified in the admin config if a person running a site doesn't have gaming in mind?

I run a hockey travel site and I would love to be able to change Hall of fame to something like "Top Travel Tips" and for the titles, Top Rinks, Top, Destinations, Top Amenities?

Lastly is it responsive?

Edits to Admin.php can be avoided in almost all cases by hooks ;)

1. Not from the admin panel you can't unfortunately, but you can always check the files
Themes>default>languages>Modifications.english.php
Themes>default>languages>Hof.english.php

You can't change Hall Of Fame and anything else related to the mod there, just search for "hof" once you open the files.

2. It's not responsive, at least not yet, the next version though will be responsive, and will have more options.

Basically you declare a function that will receive the entire admin area array and you just add what you need to it.

Should be in the wiki.

Excellent, I will wait to see how this mod progresses, especially the responsive end. That is very important for my site as the majority of the traffic is mobile device users.

Hello,

This mod is amazing and it would be very useful if there is css file to change background and size of the avatars. It would be more simple...  :D
Now I had to create classes because I don't know which files need to be edited inline.

Thanks and keep it up.  ;)

As you know I plan to use this differently. Is there a way to choose an avatar and hyper link it with a redirect to a different URL?

Thanks!

Avatars and links are automatically set according to the member, So no you can't change that manually.

It's possible put it would require code rewriting and possibly database changes, I'd say this isn't the mod you want for what you're trying to accomplish, as it sounds entirely different.

Thank you!!

I am having an issue with it, and I might be the only one since no one else reported it... anyway,

...when I try to remove an user or a class it doesn't let me. it shows a "403 forbidden" page.  :o :o :o

I also installed it in a clean board and it's the same. When I click to delete a class and it gives me that 403 forbidden page, it also blocks my ip from the server... is this related to the server and not the mod? I never had it happen with a mod before...

Probably not from the mod,
Can you check the error log and see if there is anything ?

if there is nothing check if the folders chmod are set to 755 and files to 644

403 is almost invariably due to the host having mod_security misconfigured.
Ask the host to turn OFF mod_security.
Title: Re: SMF Hall Of Fame
Post by: Veee on July 26, 2018, 01:22:40 PM
mod_security is off due to another issue I had previously... I think you, Kindred, were the one that helped me with that one. ;)

permissions are set the right way and there's nothing on the error log....

Thanks both for trying to help out!

If there's nothing else to be done, I will just uninstall and install the mod whenever I want to make any changes...

hmmm.... since you're still getting a 403, I would suspect that they did not turn OFF mod_security but merely changed the configuration so that your previous issue was resolved.

I checked modsecurity in cpanel... is that the same thing? It was turned on. But I am 100% sure the other time they disabled it.   :o I turned it off and the mod is now working fine!! Thanks again, Kindred!!  ;D

Shall I keep modsecurity turned on/off? When I turned it off it showed a message saying it should be kept on for extra security proposes...

Thank you :)

Hi @SychO, it would be great if in the next update you would add the possibility of ordering different sections of Hall of Fame. I have a few different categories in my HoF and it would be nice to arrange them e.g. from the most important to the least. Of course if it is possible. :)

how to make it not show to guests....
I do not allow guests to view memberlist or profiles, ect
but the link to hall of fame is still visible and shows the list of members, though yes if member is clicked on it redirects to login with warning....
how to hide the link from anyone not logged in?

I never added permissions to the mod, so it's not possible right now, I am planning to do so in the next version though, just haven't gotten around to it.

meanwhile you can manually edit mod files to use the existing member list permission,

in Subs-Hof.php replace

'show' => !empty($modSettings['hof_active']),

with

'show' => !empty($modSettings['hof_active']) && allowedTo('view_mlist'),

And in Hof.php replace

$context['sub_template']  = 'main';

with

isAllowedTo('view_mlist');
$context['sub_template']  = 'main';

question...
feature request...
how could I show some sort of badge in the users profile and on their mini profile in posts
so when you add a member to the hall of fame then they will get a little badge
Title: Re: SMF Hall Of Fame

that'd have to be coded in the mod, it would need querying the relevant tables to know which group of the hall of fame the member belongs to, then use that to add the badge.

I downloaded LATEST VERSION v1.2.1, but when uploaded to package manager it shows as Hall Of Fame 1.2 ?

Also it notes compatible 2.1RC1 but is it equally compatible with 2.1RC4?

Looks like it wasn't updated in the package_info? You could use the code from github, the release from github also says 1.2 only but 2019, and files were updated in 2020

I don't think this means anything or matters at all if a mod is using hooks. Should just verify in a test forum that it works properly.

I have this mod installed on 2.0.19.

I see its noted as compatible with 2.1RC1

With the release now of 2.1.0 is it compatible for use with no further changes necessary?

Just installed on 2.1.3 with no errors and works perfectly!

@landyvlad I'm not stocking you! :P  ;D

But, this is the first time I've seen this mod...decided to give it a try and it works great on 2.1.3 as far as I can tell! ;)

Hmm I think my brain has failed. I went to install the latest version so I uninstalled the existing one (did NOT tick to remove info from database)then deleted from package manager and uploaded new version and installed.

BUT not it's telling me  Nothing to Show Yet

 :-[

What did I do  wrong / how can I fix it please.

Further to my previous post, it would appear that the process of updating the mod, deleted the mod info from the database.

I'm not to keen on using github versions rather than 'official' versions from the SMF website, so will probably just do without.

Thanks anyway all :)
