Threw it on local for a look. There doesn't appear to be any user-selectable option for theme variant. As far as I can tell it's set site-wide in admin, with no other alternatives elsewhere. This seems to be a bit of a pity.

I'm also not sure why it wasn't just done with the built-in SMF variant system, which would have required far less code and would have allowed members to select the variant they prefer.

While we're on the subject, code could be trimmed in quite a few places in the CSS. Not that it will ruin anyone's day the way it is, but you could get rid of quite few declarations.

Still, it looks kinds nifty.

I actually thought about that, but in the end I just left it to the cookie, it's true that it'd take far less code, but I was aiming at the smooth change ;) I'm thinking of adding a user option in an update anyway since cookies expire, but until then members can still choose what they prefer.

yup the css definitely can be improved, I guess I was just lazy to do so.

Thanks for the feedback :)

You really don't need to worry about all the prefixed declarations for transition, border-radius, etc, etc. Those haven't been necessary since before my hair started going grey, and that was years ago. :D

It's perfectly safe to use the basic W3C syntax for just about any CSS3 stuff. There may be one or two exceptions, but I can't think of any offhand. If one or two people somewhere on Earth are using an ancient version of whatever, everything will still work anyway. If a little bit of eye candy is missing they'll never notice. The 2.1 default uses basic W3C syntax. So does Elk.

So where can members choose what they prefer? I couldn't find a member-accessible variant change anywhere.

Ive been doing that for like 3years now that it became a reflex, I'm not entirely sure it's not needed, I think I noticed some mobile browsers needed those, I'll look it up though.

There's a button with a moon icon in the header, next to the search button. Click that.

Finally it's here. Thank you very much for this awesome theme.

I just found a layout bug with Say Thanks mod, please see below screenshot:

Yea, don't expect mods like that to work like the default theme, that's the downside of customizing a theme a lot.

Attach Display.template.php I'll have a look at it

Aha! Found it. :D What had happened is that the test site I threw it on was running a full-width banner on default, so I just used the same banner url on SunRise. That resulted in the banner image covering your floated buttons, so no could see. If anyone else runs into the same problem, and wants to use a full-width banner, there's an easy fix.

Code (Find) Select
.topSettings {
padding: 8px 0;
}

Code (Replace) Select
.topSettings {
padding: 8px 0;
position: relative;
z-index: 9;
}

Code (Find) Select
div.forumtitle .title_onclick {
    position: relative;
    padding: 0;
    cursor: pointer;
}

Code (Replace) Select
div.forumtitle .title_onclick {
    position: relative;
    padding: 0;
    cursor: pointer;
}
.title_onclick>img {
max-width: 100%;
}

This doesn't break anything with smaller banners either. :)

As for the mod, considering I don't know how it exactly works, remove the file I previously asked you to add and upload Display.template.php, I changed its position to above the signature, that's the only fix I can figure out.

Yea, you're right I should add some margin there

index.css

    padding: 1px 6px;
    font-size: 12px;
    position: relative;
    display: inline-block;
    vertical-align: top;
    line-height: normal;
    top: 0px;
}

Code (Replace) Select
td.info .child_boards a {
    padding: 1px 6px;
    font-size: 12px;
    position: relative;
    display: inline-block;
    vertical-align: top;
    line-height: normal;
    top: 0px;
    margin: 1px 0;
}
.child_boards>i {

Yet another amazing theme. You never cease to amaze me, theme after theme you release is better than the others. You're so talented!!!

Now, I do have a question... You know how there's an image for the footer when it's day and another for when it's night? Can we do that for the header/top banner also? And remove the mountains/sun? Or if that's not possible move those elements to the front of the header? I really wanted to have a different header in full width + height for each switch so I could add some darked elements to the night theme.

Thank youuuuuu!!!!

Depends on what you want to put instead, if you're going for a banner then you'll have to make css changes for that
the light mountains img is named sr_sunrise.png and dark is named sr_midnight, they're located in images/custom

hmm, You could do that by specifying a background image for the header and use different images for light/dark, there are two css files: sunrise.css where any code shows in the light mode, and midnight.css where any code shows in dark mode, you can add changes there, but I'm not sure that's what you mean though, unless you're talking about the logo image which you can specify in the theme settings ?

Quote from: SychO on September 26, 2018, 09:50:53 AM...ugh browser compatibility issues are the worst.

Tell me about it. ::) Always have been. Opera is a good one to test. I know it's Webkit, but they do their own things to it and it doesn't behave quite the same as Chrome or other Webkit builds.

Opera has always had an idiosyncratic and very strict view of web standards. What you will find is that if something works on Opera it will also work on other browsers (99% of the time anyway) but if something works on Firefox or Chrome it won't necessarily work on Opera. So if you check things on Opera you will use more naughty words in early testing, but fewer naughty words in post-release bug fixing. :)

(I still hate it though)

That's good advice, usually it's the last one I test

Tell me about it. ::) Always have been. Opera is a good one to test. I know it's Webkit, but they do their own things to it and it doesn't behave quite the same as Chrome or other Webkit builds.

I see, that's interesting.
I usually only test in IE & Edge, cause those two are usually the unhappy ones, didn't think Opera would be somewhat demanding as well, guess I gotta start testing on it as well then :/

Most of the time Opera does behave how you'd expect. It's just every so often that you'll hit a case where it doesn't. I can't give examples offhand because I've done limited coding lately, but I do recall some cases fairly recently where something I was messing around with needed special treatment for Opera. Fortunately the fixes for Opera also worked in other browsers, but I can't remember what the exact situation was or how I fixed it.

Short version is it'll be fine a lot of the time, but it's always worth checking, and you may have to do some lateral thinking here and there. :)

hmm, You could do that by specifying a background image for the header and use different images for light/dark, there are two css files: sunrise.css where any code shows in the light mode, and midnight.css where any code shows in dark mode, you can add changes there, but I'm not sure that's what you mean though, unless you're talking about the logo image which you can specify in the theme settings ?

Thank you for the reply. I added a header in the logo image section in theme settings and it doesn't show it in it's full resolution. The banner image is 1800x300 and it's showing reduced as 1100x190px.... Where is the place I can edit to change this setting? The mountains and sunrise are behind the banner image/logo, how can I put them over it? Thanks.  ;D

I have it on a local server to edit it the way I want before going live on my own forum. I will try to explain what I want with images.

Added the header image url on the logo image option in the theme settings page.
Then it looks like this [screenshot1]. it's resizing the image.... when I want it to go over the edges...

Which is ok, but I'd rather it looked it's full size. Like this [screenshot2]

How can this be accomplished? I tried changing some parts in the css but I must not be changing everything... Also, on desktops the header is centered while in mobile devices the header moves to the left, where do I go to center it? Hope this helps. Thank you.

Yes, but that way everything in the forum turns 100% and I'd like the main part with the categories, users online etc to stay at 80%... I was wondering if I could manually change the header/logo part in the css, but I have no idea which parts to change. :/

Thanks for trying to help :)

Very nice theme Sycho (as well as the others, specially NightBreeze), love the night-mode option...

Two things:
1. A minor correction: there should be a way to see avatars always as a perfect circle and not "ovals" when the image isn't square. I've accomplished this at our forum (see signature), and have tried to emulate the same css on yours but somehow can't reach it.
2. A suggestion... option for fixed navbar on top... it would help a lot specially on mobile (elements forum name/logo + profile + unread + search available at any time, eventually even mentions + alerts, which we have on our forum), but also on desktop, here it would be interesting to have different navbars whether one is on board/messageindex or on post view (where it is also interesting to see which topic you're into... a bit like apple discussions website thread view)

1. That'd indeed be nice, but I would have to force a fixed size on the avatar in order to keep them square, and I don't really want to do that, I could however add it as a setting which would be nice.

2. Yea that would be nice aswell, I would add that as an option to turn on/off but I don't think I want to add any features at this point.

@ SychO

did you perhaps miss my post about the header? Is there a way I can edit the theme main header part to have the image show as full instead of resized? I tried the solution milenyals mentioned but that would make the whole forum full size and that's not what I want, just the header/navigation part. The rest I want to keep at 80%. Like the size of the SMF forum for example.

Thanks.

Hi, and thanks about this new very nice theme. Works great with mobile :)

I have couple of questions if someone can maybe help...
1. How i can i make/resize gray mountain "area" smaller/thinner in mobile version? Now it is big and need to scroll to see kategories. (See attachment)
2. Can i change pencil logo to other logos, so every kategory have own logo? Like Bitcoin have bitcoin logo, ethereum have ethereum logo etc (See attachment)
3. Can i erase/change/change only a color of purple/pink mountain in site bottom?

Thank you!

Well, you can either remove the wrapper class which is inside upper_section element in index.template.php, or force a 100% width on #upper_section .wrapper in index.css and manipulate max-height value of the same element.

1. What does that have to do with categories ?

2. what @Kindred said, maybe check Custom Board Icons mod, though it will fail to install on this theme.

3. Do you know how to use Photoshop or any other graphic software ? then sure you can.

Nice :)

I have found two little bugs.
First one - Option for Turn Lights Off / On shows always the same, regardless the dark or light version picked. See attached photo

Second one - I know you've mentioned that the mods might be not working correctly with custom themes. Please have a look a this one, its called SMFShoutBox
Once you click to change Font or Smiles icon on the shoutbox the pop up is not visible.  I have attached two photos, second one is from the default theme and pop ups showing ok.

Thanks :)

Nice catch, I should probably add a line of code which updates the content of the Tooltip upon switching to another mode.

The shoutbox things seems to be a zindex issue, could you post a link to your forum ? I'll take a look at it

Ok, lets start from scratch

On the shoutbox itself there is an option to open it as a separate window (popup) and that's working fine, when you click on the smiles icon, little window (popup) will open with option to choose different smiles. That's working fine.

But shoutbox on the main Forum page, when you try clicking on the smiles icon, little window (popup) with option to choose different smiles will not open, a same as menu to change font and font colour.

Hope that explain bit more

Try enabling "Show a quick login on every page" in Admin > Configuration > Features and Options > Layout

I think I should not use that setting, something for the next update.

 I really love this theme, still tweaking it at the moment on my test site before I add it to my main site. So I will probably be asking a few questions.

First up. Can I remove the sun and moon symbols from the header?

Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on November 01, 2018, 04:14:11 AM
Yea, add this to index.css

.sunmoon { display:none; }
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: melanie1986 on November 01, 2018, 04:34:09 PM
 that should work, where exactly on the css should I add that? I'm not overly confident with my css editing abilities.  :o

just add it at the end of the file, also make sure you hard refresh your page after that to see the changes.

Hi, first of all thank you for your work in this beautifull theme.
I just have one problem though. I would like to altenate the background colors of each post inside a topic page like we have here.
It can generally be done by specifying the colors of the windobg and windowbg2 tags but I changed the values into the sunrise.css and midnight.css files but it doesn't affect anything. Can you tell me where I have to look at?
Thank you.

Hi, first of all thank you for your work in this beautifull theme.

You're welcome

Add the following code in each of sunrise.css & midnight.css and edit the value of the bg color#forumposts .windowbg2 {
    background: #f3f3f3;
}

This will be the alternative color, Also make sure you hard refresh your page to see the changes(CTRL+F5)

I was going to say the same thing, seems like the CSS is there for alternating backgrounds, but commented out and another item is forcing it all to be white.

Nothing is forcing anything, it simply is not alternating colors is all.

Yes that's what I thought too but nothing would alternate colors until I added the code SychO suggested.

It's not a criticism, just an observation, the posted fix did nothing for me, and looking at the CSS I could see where it is set but commented out, and some other CSS seems to be disallowing the change.

index.css has an error on line 1707:
0: 0.9em
assume it's meant to be "font-size"

Any reason there's 2 line breaks as well as CSS margin at the bottom of the header? (IMHO  makes for a big unnecessary gap between header and main content)

If you comment that part out, than you have to remove the block of code beneath it.

I don't disagree, I do think there's too much space there, also I should drop the line breaks.

Another thing I'm not sure about, the thread starter avatar showing up even in the reduced mobile views of the thread listing, and the CSS rounded corners on avatars (if they aren't square it comes out oval instead of round)

Otherwise, it's been a sheer pleasure to use in testing coming from a heavily customized version of an earlier release of ShelfLife even with the many mods we use not yet implemented and only some minor changes.

I really love this theme but my signatures aren't showing up.  They are coming up as a letter or a number instead, and in the signature field it reads 'Array' .  I have re-installed already once and curious to know what I am doing wrong.  Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks!

My profile when I want to add a signature reads 'Array' and if I replace it with text or code it keeps showing up as 'Array'.

That's weird, do the signatures work on the default theme ? Are you using a mod that does something to signatures ?

It isn't a problem with the theme though, whatever mod you used/using is the problem, you have to manually uninstall it by looking at the changes it does

After recently moving hosts I started testing more our old setup was php5 and new is php7, one of the things I noticed when I switched to Sunrise for testing is that for some odd reason when I first load the forum with the theme selected, all the fontawesome icons are broken.
This happens if I got to any other website, then load the forum, going to any other page on the forum will fix them.

I updated to the Fontawesome css  to latest available, and found this https://www.hanselman.com/blog/WhyDoMyFontAwesomeIconsShowUpAsBlankSquares.aspx

seems in the theme they are defined class="fas fa-iconname"
and based on that post they should always be class="fa fa-iconname"
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on December 28, 2018, 12:30:01 PM
fa has been deprecated in FontAwesome 5, fas is the new default, there is also fab for brands and far, fal available on the PRO version.

My guess is your problem is related to SSL(if you have it setup) but It's only a guess, I'd need a link to your forum to see for myself.

Two questions:

Is there a way to edit the orange sun image? Would like to make it lighter or more transparent.

Can I have two separate header images that change with the day and night modes?
Title: Re: SunRise

for the sun color take a look at .sunmoon and .sunmoon.sunrise and .sunmoon.midnight in index.css and .sunmoon in midnight.css

as for the header images they are in images/custom directory
light mode : sr_sunrise.png
dark : sr_midnight.png

Look for

You probably want to change 100% to 13 or 14px

You can use your browser's developer tools to see what's what in the css and make changes,
add a font-size property to list-posts
.list_posts {
    padding-top: 12px;
    margin-top: 6px;
    overflow: auto;
}

.list_posts {

    font-size: 13px;
}

I am in love with this theme. I run an RP writing site, and the ability to switch from light to dark with a click instead of installing other themes is amazing. Plus, it looks awesome!

There are a few things I need some help with, and not sure if the theme creator has time to help me. Which is o.k, because life happens. But since my questions/issues are around using this theme, I thought I would ask here, first.

1. ) I had previously installed vbgamer's likes mod. It is working on our default customized site theme, but, I can't seem to see it at all on Sunrise.
2.) I am also using the mod, Subaccounts, which allows SMF users to create many accounts with the same email, connected to one single "main" SMF name. There's a drop down in the original default theme at the top of our forums, as well as the choice, when posting, which user name/account name they want to post from. I have NO idea how to edit to include those things into Sunrise.
3.) I am trying to get SSL to work on SMF. It seems to be working on our default theme just fine. But when I switch from Sunrise Day or Night, the font awesome icons disappear/render a square, and my URL goes from https to http. I have run repair_php. after installation, and not sure what I need to change to make it secure?
4.) I am using both an awards mod, and a shop/inventory mod. I am thinking I may try and uninstall the shop and try another--but, would anyone know how I could make the awards mod work in showing up in people's signatures in the Sunrise mod?

Mods mentioned I've no idea how to make show up in Sunrise:
Likes Mod (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=506743.0)
Sub Accounts Mod (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=347710.0)
Member Awards Mod (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=114701.0)

Thank you to anyone who reads this, I appreciate the time taken :)

when you install a new theme, after mods have already been installed, you may have to manually apply theme changes for all mods to the new theme, depending on the templates defined in the new theme...
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: elf_fu on January 16, 2019, 01:45:51 PM
Thank you SychO and Kindred!

Yes, I think one of the mistakes is that the mods were installed well before I installed Sunrise, and that I am a bit (totally) confused on how to make the manual edits to Sunrise to get these mods working. I have taken a look at each one and parsing them, but it has been a long year or more of not doing any editing and so I am a bit lost.

My forum is here: https://greaterrealms.us/

Honestly, thinking about all the mods and template changes-- there's so much to update and do and I may have to come back and offer to pay someone to help after the domain renewal price goes through to do the updates the forum needs.
Title: Re: SunRise

Yea that's a problem, especially if you have many mods, you can try to setup a testing forum and install the theme and then install all of the mods, then take the theme's files over to your forum, although some mods will not work well with the theme as it's very customized compared to other themes.

Looks like a css issue, thanks for the report I'm surprised no one reported it before
here's how you can fix it:
open index.css look for .auto_suggest_div {
    position: absolute;
    visibility: hidden;
    padding: 4px 5px;
    border-radius: 3px;
    max-width: 100%;
    min-width: 120px;
    box-shadow: 0 3px 5px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4);
}

change it to .auto_suggest_div {
    position: absolute;
    visibility: hidden;
    padding: 4px 5px;
    border-radius: 3px;
    max-width: 100%;
    min-width: 120px;
    box-shadow: 0 3px 5px rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.4);
    z-index: 1;
}

basically just adding z-index: 1;

I'm using Arceus' Character Manager and it's all set up to have character names and avatars show instead of member names and avatars except for a few places that SunRise has that other themes don't. Like the 'threadthis' bar at the top of the display page... and I can't figure out how to get that to show the character name instead of the member's name. I'm okay with just disabling that stuff if there's no way to get it all squared away... but I figured I'd ask if it might be possible. Just let me know if you need to see a specific code... I am not familiar with the mod, the code for the that area is located in Themes/SunRise20/Display.template.php
if you have some coding experience you can try to figure out how the mod outputs the different data and do the same,
otherwise you can remove the avatar and the name by replacing
echo'<div class="threadthis">
<div class="content">

Thank you for this amazing theme, I love it. 8)

I'd like to make the quote button lead the user to the full reply page instead of the quote going into quick reply. I'm sure that's possible but I'm not sure which file to edit.

Also, it seems like signatures disappear on lower screen resolutions. How do I make it visable all the time?

Thank you, it worked. :)

Another thing. How do I remove the drop down menu for the quick buttons (quote/modify/remove etc.) on lower resolutions. It's a nice feature, but not necessary for my users because they only have the options quote and edit. I'd like to have the buttons next to each other.

How do I make the theme show no image at all instead of the default avatar if the user doesn't have an avatar?
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on February 24, 2019, 11:30:44 AM
in index.template.php, change this
/* Set the default avatar image */
if($context['sr_mode']['value']==0) {
$settings['sr_default_avatar'] = '<img src="'.$settings['theme_url'].'/images/default_avatar.png" class="avatar sr_switchable" width="110" height="110"/>';
} else
$settings['sr_default_avatar'] = '<img src="'.$settings['theme_url'].'/images/default_avatar_midnight.png" class="avatar sr_switchable" width="110" height="110"/>';

to this $settings['sr_default_avatar'] = '';

Hi SychO,

Congrats and many thanks for this great theme! We really enjoy it!
And now... the questions of course.  :)

- Is it possible to center the logo of the forum? For now, I cheated: I put a logo of the same width as the forum. Which looks good on computer but not on mobile because it is too reduced.
- On a board index, how to remove the column containing the 45x45 avatars? And increase the width of the column containing the thread titles.
- How to make the news text still? Even if it limits the length of the text to the width of the forum, we would like to be able to do it.
- How do we know when a new version of the theme is available for download?

Many thanks in advance. Greetings.  :)

Hello,

- Use a normal image than add this to index.css .imgHead {
    text-align: center;
}

- Messageindex.template.php, you'll have to change this<th scope="col" class="first_th" width="2%" colspan="2">&nbsp;</th> to this <th scope="col" class="first_th" width="2%">&nbsp;</th> and delete this if(!empty($topic['first_post']['member']['id']) && $topic['first_post']['member']['id']!=0) {
// Get The Avatar the easy Way
$last_poster = $topic['first_post']['member']['id'];
loadMemberData($last_poster);
loadMemberContext($last_poster);
echo'
<td class="icon2 ', $color_class, ' avatared">
', !empty($memberContext[$last_poster]['avatar']['image']) ? $memberContext[$last_poster]['avatar']['image'] : $settings['sr_default_avatar'], '
</td>';
} else {
echo'
<td class="icon2 ', $color_class, ' avatared">
', $settings['sr_default_avatar'], '
</td>';
}

- index.template.php & boardindex.template.php delete this <script>jq(\'.marquee\').marquee({
//speed in milliseconds of the marquee
duration: ', empty($settings['newsmarquee_time']) ? '14000' : $settings['newsmarquee_time'], ',  pauseOnHover: true
});</script>

- You can compare the changelog here (https://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2921) to the changelog.txt file in your theme folder/package

Hello,

Sometimes the icons are displayed like this. Sometimes they're normal.
On PC, Windows10, Chrome and Firefox latest update. Cable, not wifi.
Also on Android tablet and phone, Chrome and Firefox.
Any idea?

SychO,

First off, LOVE this theme!  Great work!

Couple questions:

1.  I want to change stars location.  I found the .mosunmo .sr_star background color in the applicable sunrise/midnight css.  However, can't for the life of me figure out how you placed the stars where they are (and move them), although I found reference to them in the php.

2.  Saw earlier in this thread how to alternate #forumposts .windowbg2 color.  How do I do similarly for the board topics themselves?  And maybe even the boards on the index page if got even crazier?   :o

Thank you!!
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on March 22, 2019, 06:06:40 AM
1. starting at index.css line 4323
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(4) {top: 1em;left: 10em;width: 8px;height: 8px;}
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(5) {top: 2.5em;right: 35em;left:unset;width: 10px;height: 10px;}
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(6) {top: 50%;left: 50%;width: 4px;height: 4px;}
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(7) {top: 1em;left: 10em;width: 8px;height: 8px;}
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(8) {top: 2em;left: 40em;width: 7px;height: 7px;}
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(9) {top: 4em;left: 25em;width: 3px;height: 3px;}
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(10) {top: 5em;left: 65em;width: 6px;height: 6px;}
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(11) {top: 2em;left: 10em;width: 4px;height: 4px;}
.mosunmo .sr_star:nth-child(12) {top: 6em;left: 48em;width: 10px;height: 10px;}

2. You could apply this but it will mess up the sticky and locked topics backgrounds
.topic_table tr.windowbg:nth-child(even) td, #boardindex_table .content tr:nth-child(even) td {
    background-color: #000;
}

Awesome theme! I've been using this for a week now and loving it. Thank you, SychO! :)

Questions though:

1. How can I disable the night theme so that users will be forced to just see the day theme and not have the option to switch to the night theme?

2. The stats on the homepage seem to be messed up. I don't know why but the data about number of topics, members, and posts are not in straight line and have varying font sizes. (See screenshot) How to fix this?

Thank you!

Thank you,

1. There currently isn't an option to prevent users from switching modes, I'll be adding an option in a future update though

2. That seems to be a bug in the theme, until I fix it in a future update you can avoid it by either turning ON "Show statistics on board index:" in the theme settings, or turning ON "Show latest member on board index:"

only thing you can do is uninstall the mods, install the theme and then re-install the mods, as far as I can tell

I'm betting it's a problem with the theme files chmod permissions.

Set the files to 664 and the directories to 775 and then try again.

Really like Sunrise theme in 2.0.15

One problem, I can't seem to locate the [Notify] button for a topic!

Is there a hidden setting for turning it on or making it prominent ?

a 500 error is a server side error. Your error logs are unclear, because of the eval statement...  so your host should be able to help you track down the ACTUAL cause of the error.

I suspect it still may be related to chmod permissions, but if you actually changed *(with recursion) all of the files and directories, then I don't know what the other causes may be -- this theme installs on my server with no issues, so it is fairly obviously some difference in server configuration.

First of all, thank you SychO for this great theme! I manage a small forum for a group of home-town friends (nice to have now that we are located all over the country).

Anyways, I was wondering if there is any way to embed video (youtube etc.) in posts while using Sunrise 20_2.0? For example Simple Audio Video Embedder (https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2681) by vbgamer45. I know it's not listed as a supported mod, but maybe it can be worked around?

I have a problem with custom fields in the themes.
The user who published the topic doesn't show the custom field of "PJ" but the users who answer yes. The same happens if the user who posted the topic doesn't show the user either.

// Any custom fields for standard placement?
if (!empty($message['member']['custom_fields']))
{
foreach ($message['member']['custom_fields'] as $custom)
if (empty($custom['placement']) || empty($custom['value']))
echo '
<li><b>', $custom['title'], '</b>: ', $custom['value'], '</li>';
}

As far as I remember I made no changes to the custom fields, if their fields aren't showing it means they didn't fill those fields in their profile settings.

You need a mod for that, you can search mods here https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/
but there's no guarantee that any of them will work on the theme

Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: Kindred on April 29, 2019, 07:57:48 AM
That mod works just fine if it is properly installed and the instructions followed....

1- did you apply it to this theme when you installed the mod?
2- did you create and place the new icons in a subdirectory of this theme as well as the default theme?

If you have problems with a specific mod, then you should ask in the support thread for that mod (since it is up to the author of the mod to provide support (or not). :) )
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: serega06 on April 29, 2019, 08:28:35 AM
I installed it to the SunRise template. There is a different code that needs to be replaced ... the icons work but the template starts crooked work
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: Kindred on April 29, 2019, 08:32:02 AM
So, the mod actually WORKS --    it just needs manual modification to display nicely within this theme.
(which is likely to be true of almost any modern theme, since the original mod code was intended for the SMF Curve default, that is not at all modern. :) )
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: serega06 on April 29, 2019, 08:35:08 AM
Yes, that's the problem :-\ :-[
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: Kindred on April 29, 2019, 12:59:26 PM
in that case, you just have to translate the code into a format that this theme uses....

So, compare the Curve/default theme original code and what tat mod changes it to...

then take the SunRise original code and make the same sort of changes.

it's not a 1:1 replace in most modern themes - you have to use some basic human pattern matching and logic instead of computer 1:1 matching/logic.

SychO, Where can I change this text?
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: Kindred on April 29, 2019, 03:12:13 PM
Change that text how?

That text is the linktree aka breadcrumbs and is generated automatically by the system as you click down to different pages/layers.

Or did you actually mean " how do I change the layout of that section because there is too much padding right now"?
(please be clear in what you actually want when you ask questions)

If that, then it's handled in index.css and you can use any of the browser webdev tools to play around with the CSS until you find out what works -- and then apply those changes to the file based on your experiments.

What is your forum URL?

Please create a new topic in the SMF 2.0 Support Board (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=147.0) as this is most likely not caused by the theme.

You'd have to ask the questions related to the mods in the their respective topics where the author can reply to your questions.

You can replace the mountain image with another one, it is located in the Themes/SunRise/images/custom folder of your smf installation directory

I do not keep track of old versions unfortunately, and the update process would be to uninstall the theme and re-install it, and most of the time that will require you to also uninstall your mods and re-install them after you've done the same to the theme.

I'm testing this theme. I't nice, but when I reduce screen width on my desktop (i.e. half of screen), or when watching from mobile in landscape mode (like on tablet) mountains from header are using much of available space and site title is not displayed.

When watching on mobile phone upright orientation, it looks nice (attached). So how to force it to go mobile when screen size is smaller than XY, or how to show site title always on top of mountains, like it is on mobile version?

Hello All

Hello SychO, for your excellent work.

Like I asked you by email I really need your help to resolve some issues I have with your theme. Issues that can be caused by any MOD I am using.
Still...I will ask.

On desktop version would like to have these buttons centered in the page. They are justified to left.

If you can...will be nice.

I am using a MOD with your theme that brings recent topic to top. Is ok on desktop version but on mobile version I have some issues.
According to MOD author (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=522114.0) works ok on standard/default SMF theme and issues with other themes should be solved by theme author.

You can see that recent topic MOD I am using doesn´t match with your theme aligment.

Can you help me SychO?....please!

Best regards
Pedro Figo

Hey SychO, firstly. Love the theme. So great to see something so different to the norm.

I was just wondering if it's possible to replace the sun/moon shape that pops up with an image? (jpg / png example) as I had this idea of having my forum logo pop up.

I'm not sure if this is even possible but thought it was worth asking.  Cheers bud.

add .poster img.avatar {
    border-radius: 0;
}

to index.css

I tried adding this as you said to change the Avatars from round to square on the post threads but it doesn't work. They are still very clearly round.

A few questions.

I want to delete the header images and footer images and just have the grey background. I don't know how to do that in css but I figured I can just change the picture to a grey picture the same size as the mountains in the header and footer images. Will that ruin anything or is there a easier way to do it with css?

also I think I have the same question as this guy

Quote from: kryptokeskustelu.org on October 02, 2018, 02:03:25 PM
1. How i can i make/resize gray mountain "area" smaller/thinner in mobile version? Now it is big and need to scroll to see kategories. (See attachment)...

which I think he's saying the header is too tall and it takes up half the screen when visiting on a mobile device. How Can I make that shorter?

and in the Lazarus theme I used this code to disable the header from displaying at all except for the homepage. can I do it on this theme also?
Quote from: SychO on February 13, 2019, 04:31:55 PM
If you're not using any portals try this:

open index.template.php located in the theme directory (should be lazarus20)
look for <div id="upper_section" class="middletext wrapper">';

replace it with <div id="upper_section" class="middletext wrapper', empty($context['current_action']) || (!empty($context['current_action']) && $context['current_action']=='forum') ? '' : ' phoneNone', '">';

Edit: I changed the code above, it had a reversed logic :P

thanks

lol I just realized in the theme settings theres an option to remove the mountains and stuff :)

so I guess that leaves the question of making it shorter and not displaying except on homepage

Great theme! Just a few questions:

1. How do I change the font color of the board index (links to the post) from the default orange to blue?
2. I enabled Karma and it appears in the desktop version of the theme but not in the mobile version. How to show Karma in the mobile version of this theme as well?
3. How do I increase the size of the fonts in the mobile version? They appear small so I want to increase the size.

Thanks!

Doing a browser "view source" on your link shows some addresses pointing at 127.0.0.1

Use the following tool to repair that.

What is repair_settings.php? (https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Repair_settings.php)

I tried installing a mod which uses hooks only (Topic Rename (https://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3167)) which adds a button below the topic (next to "link to calendar"). Is there a way to make it display with this theme? (Currently testing on local machine).

Edit: I found it.

Add something like this in css

.button_strip_renameTopic:before {
content: "\f021";
}

I discovered another issue though when it comes to subitems in main forum menu. The first item with subitems (Converters) appears on the right where as the second one (Utilities) has no right offset and appears directly below. This does not happen with any other theme, i.e. you can test here: https://www.translatum.gr/forum/index.php

Right, thanks!

Another issue I noticed. When at zoom 90% with the browser (Chrome) I can see the full row of top right icons (Home, Help...). When zoom is 100% they disappear and the 3 lines menu selection icon appears. When zoom is 110% the top right icons reappear.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: spiros on December 19, 2019, 05:16:15 AM
Yet another.

- Clicking "Home" icon or any other top-level menu icon sometimes does not go to the link. Upon inspection it displays javascript:void(0). This can be checked by increasing zoom on the browser in order to have the icons moved into the 3 lines menu selection icon. Decreasing it again maintains this javascript. Subitems are not affected.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on December 19, 2019, 05:50:45 AM
Try refreshing the page after the zoom
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: spiros on December 19, 2019, 05:58:37 AM
Yes, either that or clicking the main forum home page link. But still, this should not happen as the user may be at a loss as to why the link does not work.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on December 19, 2019, 08:54:16 AM
Well, it's not a big deal, it only happens on the instance where you change the window size by zooming, after that there is no problem. I am sure there is a better way code wise, but not something I'm gonna look into anytime soon unfortunately.

I was testing after the 2.0.17 update and there seems no way to get the browser to remember the day/night selection. It seems to last only for the specific browser session; when browser is restarted one has to change it again. Is there any way to make it stick to the visitor/user selection (until the user changes it), I guess by cookie duration?
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on January 02, 2020, 11:39:00 AM
The cookie duration is 30 days by default, so even if you restart your browser the cookie should still be there before the 30 days, if you want to change the duration look for "setCookie" and edit "30" in index.template.php

also since the way the cookie is set by the theme has nothing to do with how the software sets its cookies, than 2.0.17 has no way of messing with it, of course something might be amiss with your installation but it works fine for me even with 2.0.17

I did some more testing with 2 machines and 1 phone. Visiting 2 sites with the theme, closing the browser, opening it again. The results are a mixed bag. Some browsers fail in both sites I tested (your demo http://dzignmz.22web.org/forum/index.php?theme=8&i=1 and mine https://www.translatum.gr/forum/index.php), some work for both, some work in one, not in the other.

Menu issue
It seems that what causes much of the menu issues is the fact that in mobile dropdown menu the first item is not clickable but unfolds the subitems. So, if the main item has both a link and children elements (as for example "Customize" in this site), the link of the main item will not work in mobile mode. Not sure how this can be addressed as the first item can also be an important site link. Maybe have it added somehow as an extra subitem in mobile mode?

Stats on top

Checking your demo I can see a top row with stats. Is this an option? I could not find it.

I guess if you do add the main item as a subitem that would solve the problem, the code is in index.template.php, I think the function responsible for the menu is called template_menu() you just need to re-write the <li> item inside the <ul> item which is inside of it.

I was not sure how exactly to implement that edit; I edited the menu in Subs.php instead by adding the main item as first subitem too.

Has anyone upgraded to 2.0.17 yet and if so, have you had any issues with the SunRise theme? I'm reluctant to upgrade until I see 2.0.17 listed as officially compatible. Currently it's only showing 2.0.15.

I'd also like to propose that the following be changed in the index.template.php file in the next version of this theme:

Change:
<li><a class="firstlevel" href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread">' . fontawesome('fas fa-user-plus') . ' <span>', $txt['sr_unread_since_visit'], '</span></a></li>

To:
<li><a class="firstlevel" href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread">' . fontawesome('fas fa-inbox') . ' <span>', $txt['sr_unread_since_visit'], '</span></a></li>

Currently, it doesn't make sense to me that the icon for "UNREAD POSTS" is the same icon used for "REGISTER".

Two things:

1 - Giving Karma is important to my forum and while that option is there in desktop viewing, i cannot see that option in chrome mobile view. How can i make that option show.
2 - The default avatar mod (i want the same avatar to show across all themes) is not affecting your theme. I even overwrote your default avatar image and still no effect. What am i missing here?

Correct me if I'm understanding wrong. The themes that you're referring to will work with the like posts mod without manual edits even if it's installed after the like posts mod?

I saw somewhere in the code of Sunrise that it mentions vbgamers mod in a comment. Is that the part of code that you did whatever you posted above?

Yes & Yes, that's the purpose of adding mod support.
I just tried installing the theme after I installed the mod but it didn't seem to work.

Looks like the board icons showing new posts do not change accordingly in child boards.

Icons showing the board index and message index with child boards in both Sunrise and Default theme. Notice that in default theme, the board with new messages has a different colour icon.

I think the problem is with the class responsible for new posts <td class="icon new_posts"> not being shown on child boards with new posts. The image changes name (to an image which in fact is the same), but the image is not the one responsible for the change.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on May 09, 2020, 01:08:51 PM
It's not an issue, It's working as intended, I deliberately didn't incorporate icon changes based on new posts, call it personal preference, I never found it that useful, only bothersome at times.

If I remember correctly if you want to get it working like that, you just need to edit on2.png or something like that.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: spiros on May 09, 2020, 01:36:37 PM
Well, actually icon changes on new posts do work on your default theme, (only for forum index though, not for message index) you have applied the class mentioned above on a td (icon new_posts)  :)

Also, I notice that no Font Awesome icon is used, although the image for "on" and "off" is the same as a Font Awesome icon. I sort of found a way to change this by replacing it in BoardIndex.template.php

Find

<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/', $context['theme_variant_url'], 'on', $board['new'] ? '' : '2', '.png" alt="', $txt['new_posts'], '" class="tooltip" title="', $txt['new_posts'], '" />';

Replace:

<i class="fas fa-pencil-alt fa-3x" style="color:white !important" alt="', $txt['new_posts'], '" title="', $txt['new_posts'], '"';

I wanted to incorporate this:

<i class="fas fa-pencil-alt fa-3x" style="color:white !important" title="New posts"></i>

Although the html output of my php version is a bit problematic, I guess I am missing something. Also, getting it to be responsive the same way as the image is something I could not manage, even with something like

i.fas.fa-pencil-alt.fa-3x {
    font-size: 4.4vw;
}

please stop spamming my message inbox, this does not look like a problem with the theme itself, more like something to do with your settings, maybe theme specific user/global settings or a problem with a mod.

you have either installed a mod or edited something that messed it up

in your admin under configuration go to themes and layout settings then go to member options
then for the theme you are using click on: Configure guest and new user options for this theme
make sure that this is not checked: Don't show users' signatures.
while here make any other changes then go back to member options and (if you don't have a lot of members to tick off) for the theme that you are using click on both Change current options for all members using this theme and Remove all members' options and use the defaults

now if you have installed any mods that affect the signature permissions in your admin under members go to permissions
check each member groups permissions specifically for any signature permissions

given that there are many many mods that alter display.template.php no I couldn't tell you exactly which one....the easiest way as i mentioned would be to use a program like winmerge to compare your file with a fresh file and see what changes have been done and try to fix them or completely over right them removing any mods or changes to the file

please stop spamming my message inbox, this does not look like a problem with the theme itself, more like something to do with your settings, maybe theme specific user/global settings or a problem with a mod.

In the future please do not pester people, if anyone is around to help you they will.

I'm sorry bro very sorry.....

Hey, first thanks for the great theme. I've been able to make the majority of button editions on my own but there's one left that has defeated meh..

I need to slip in a bookmarks button to the right of the Reply button at the bottom between Reply and Poll.

I've been all over the index and rtl and I even found the icon I want the in the font awesome css but I am just puzzled at how/where this button strip gets assembled.

I found what i thought was the array of standard buttons in the display.template.php but no dice.

anyway, if you're bored or know I'd love to know where to look.

Thanks

It's the $normal_buttons array in Display.template.php that you're looking for
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: propyls on July 18, 2020, 11:05:47 AM
Hi Sych0

Thanks for the time!

I gave that a shot yesterday, adding to the normal button array thinking that would get it done and apparently am not getting something correct.

Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on July 18, 2020, 11:14:09 AM
right, I'd forgotten in addition you'll also have to define the icon in the css the same way it is defined for the other buttons. inspect the reply button's ::before pseudo and do the same for your 'bookmark' button.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: propyls on July 18, 2020, 11:32:11 AM
That's the part that has me totally defeated.

I'm not 100% certain on how it works so ive tried to copy / paste rename to create a new one.

I've tried what I thought would get it done in index.css & rtl.css but im still not doing something right.

my problem is a total lack of understanding on my part on how the css is applied to this strip.

the code in the first image is not relevant, I don't remember why I left that there, it doesn't do anything.

in the code of the second image, your problem is that you're referring to your custom button as "book" but in the php array, the key is "bookmark" so try using bookmark instead.

Awesome theme, but for some reason guests can't view any button images.

It just comes out looking like this until you log in, after which everything displays properly again. What could possibly be the cause? It's installed on 2.0.17.

This does not seem to be a problem in Nightbreeze, for reference.

well, usually that happens with URL issues, preventing the icon files from loading.

It can happen when you have SSL configured but people can still access through http without being redirected to https, or if your forum URL has www. and people can access without (or the other way around).

So check if that's what's going on.

Roger that, just sniffing around and testing everything that could work on mobile and getting ideas, and by the way some very nice themes you made. I like the menu you've used.

There was more supporting themes for mobile then I thought for 2.0.17, although I will need to clean some of them out.

Argh having huge issues logging unto this site with my Mobile, and then when I finally get in it logs me out again before I reach this place. Sigh...

In any case, I've found an issue that is in all 3 Themes on 2.0.17 - lovely themes all of them by the way!

When you make a very long Subject title your theme breaks on mobile, or does things it should not do, I only found out about this in my near finish testing, but the once that was left of the themes, the issue was there beside one single theme who had fixed it. There might be others that have fixed it, but I'm not going to install all the responsive themes again and go through them! Ant's Mutant Curve has fixed it, I think its the other clever Theme guy around which name eludes me :)

Also I've had issue when changing from Light to Black or Black to Light having it stall and not working, I think the issue was on mobile, I can't remember if I found any issue on the computer.
Also there is a menu that seems to not have been made black, and when you push it your getting this hugely flash of white light in your eyes. Can't figure out where I found it, I'll be back on that if I run into it again.

Yea, that was why I tried to connect to the forum from my mobile, to post pictures. I'll see what I can do. But if you make a Topic and fill it with Text to the very limit and post it, and look on that topic with your theme from a mobile, you should see that it ruins the width of the page. It shoots out to the right.

I see, well it's fixable but that's a very very very special case, because your subject is one single extremely long word, if it was a long sentence, there wouldn't be an issue.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: JesusIsGodAlmighty.Life on October 05, 2020, 03:08:20 PM
Ahhh, okay I have not tried to do it with spaces, I should try that out.
But in any case one Theme has a fix for it - Ant's Mutant curve have it sorted out. :)

I have a way of breaking things ;)

-edit-

you're right, it does not happen if there is spaces in the text. And I guess very little chance of anyone doing it like that. But just nice to see a rock solid theme which can't be broken by stupidity :P ;)

-edit-

Someone being stupid who wanna mess up the forum could join and do it to make havock. I've just tried to remove the content, apparently I removed the topic - but the message is still in the last 10 messages posted, allthough it says it does not exist when pushed on it. So... At least need to post some messages to get that in order again without the extra width.

Hey @SychO so I'm toying around with SunRise, although broke it and had to reinstall and now at the same point again it seems :) Did something which I don't know what I did.

I don't know if you go into helping in such details, but people are very supportive on the forum - and one can always get a no :P

Any case, minor things, could the user menu be made instant and make the letters just a little bit bigger would no hurt?
Could the menu to the right, the main menu be instant and have the boxes made a little smaller? It Just a little quize. Not sure if one could make the top menu smaller without effecting anything, including the menu top to follow. Seems there should be able to cut some pixels off pressing it further together.
And could we maybe like sticky the top bar and let it follow along, which also makes the quizing it together important if it is going to follow one around.

And, how do I implement another menu just beside the main theme menu, to be an icon menu to the right when they are unfolded on the computer and still working as a menu.

I think that is all :) No no no... I have more.

Could we have Index Home in the > link > and the Title of the page be different? And could one take out the Category names from the tree system? I get somewhat confused about this extra thing being added to the tree and it fills up space.

Anyway of shortening the Homepage name empty space up and down - I've made it all black and discounted all images but there seem to be a good amount of empty space above and below the Main homepage name.

At the bottom without a picture, maybe the footer with a box color like the top bar and closing the gap there is, at least making it smaller.

Thats all...

Well, I guess I need to try to see if I change the colors as well, from blue to orange - any easy way of doing that?

But it is up and running :D

Oh the same with the menu openings, would like them to be instant. Hate waiting, in these days of time - want things to be as fast and smoth as possible! :)

Thanks for reading!

You can do almost anything if you have the coding knowledge. I unfortunately cannot help people with their custom needs as I do not have the time to try to understand exactly what they want to do and then look at the code to see if and how it is doable, and to then try and explain how they can get to the results they want. I used to do that, for a while, but I stopped because it was too tiresome.

Quotewould like them to be instant

I have no recollection of the code, but if it was made using CSS keyframes, then you could just tweak the animation time to 0, but if the animation is done with javascript, well then you need to tweak that.

Even I don't remember mate 🤷 you'd have to download the newest package, check modification dates on files to see which ones were updated and then use a diff tool to compare with your own version's files.

When I rewrite this to 2.1, in addition to using modern CSS. it'll sit on a github repository with proper versioning, making maintenance a lot more easier.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: spiros on November 14, 2020, 06:17:24 AM
Yes, I did download it. Almost all files show 8/9/2020 as modification date...

An idea for the theme is to detect OS dark/light mode preference and serve accordingly.

QuoteAn idea for the theme is to detect OS dark/light mode preference and serve accordingly.

maybe something for the 2.1 rewritten version, it would probably be easier using CSS variables, although the logic for which mode to use would have to be properly thought about, since the admin has an option to choose a default mode, an option to enable only one mode, and the user has the option to choose one if allowed.
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: spiros on November 14, 2020, 07:31:03 AM
One css, at the end:
@media(prefers-color-scheme: dark) {dark stuff here}
This Wordpress plugin does provide for the options you mention if you want to get inspired: https://wppool.dev/wp-dark-mode/
Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: SychO on November 14, 2020, 07:48:18 AM
It wouldn't be that simple, at least not for this 2.0 version, it would require some JavaScript to decide which files to load.

For the rewritten version, I don't think JavaScript would be needed at all, would all be done in the CSS.

That sounds like the theme will work faster. So you mean you will drop the dark/light selection cookie too?
I did manage with a number of edits (css icons or replacing images with Font Awesome) to get it to load 0 pictures in home page, and very few in board index. There is still though the overhead of multiple Font Awesome libraries loading. Perhaps a subset (https://www.translatum.gr/forum/index.php?topic=981424.0) would improve things?

Well, I was specifically talking about JavaScript related to your idea. But I will end up removing a lot of the javascript that is currently switching between dark/light modes, in fact the only piece of javascript code I'll need is to check then add a "dark-mode" class to the html, a lot more easier and efficient. Don't know if that it'll make it faster though.

No, just most likely use local storage instead.

Why ? most images used are default theme images which are really just icons of very small size, they're also cached after the first load anyway, so It doesn't make much of a difference.

It's true that it loads all of fontawesome icons (strong, brand, regular) but I would rather not create a subset for it, since the theme allows admins to choose icons for menu items (and I think a couple more spots), I prefer leaving all icons as an option.

From SMF install from my pc. Choose ZIP file and install it.
After on SMF control panel I aplly theme...but: "Not possible to load template "main_above".

You can see on my image that theme is installed on my files manager.

try installing the way I suggest above and see what happens

on a side note I did try to install it from file and did get that error, so not sure why it's doing that...but installing as I posted above I do not get that error

it's those pesky gremlins again
I'll have to take a look later and see what's different between installing by file and installing from server, what's not getting uploaded or what
because it shouldn't matter as there's nothing wrong with the theme but for some reason it appears that trying to install from file messes things up

I don´t know if is a theme change I need or general SMF change.

In REGISTRATION AGREEMENT and PRIVACY POLICY, I have some text still in English when I would like to have in Portuguese.
Can anyone tell me where I can correct it?

Also I need to translate some text on footer.
Where I can do it?

Thanks for any support  ;)

Title: Re: SunRise

in the themes language folder

FORUM ROOT FOLDER/Themes/SunRise20/languages

copy the files ThemeStrings.english.php and ThemeStrings.english-utf8.php
and rename them to ThemeStrings.portuguese.php and ThemeStrings.portuguese-utf8.php
then edit these two files and translate the strings

so you'll see for example
$txt['default_sr_mode'] = "Select Default Theme Mode";leave this part alone
$txt['default_sr_mode'] = translate the part between the " and "
"Select Default Theme Mode";

not sure about the footer then, it should be in those files

and sorry as for the registration strings those aren't anything to do with the theme those should be in your themes languages I just downloaded the portuguese_pt and portuguese_brazilian and it seems that for some reason it wasn't translated
in your default theme folder's language folder

FORUM ROOT FOLDER/Themes/default/languages
find which every portugues language files you are using
the Agreement.YOURLANGUAGEINUSE.php (and the utf-8 versions as well) and you will need to translate those strings

I already have permission by email from SychO but he has no time to help me at this moment.

This is not a complain but just a help request from someone that can point me the way (file or files):
- in footer I need to translate "Terms and Policies" to Portuguese
- in footer I need to edit theme author details

Above categories (Topics groups) I have "General Categories" in English.
Would like to change it to Grupos (Groups) or Tópicos Gerais (General Topics).
Where to do it?

Ok, now the problem for me is how to edit script?  ???

Title: Re: SunRise
Post by: shadav on September 24, 2021, 11:34:12 PM
yeah, I'm happy to help with anything else but removing the copyrights that is something that you would need to ask 1 on 1 with SychO as they are the only ones that can approve that and tell you how to do that, and more so in pm and not publicly as that's part of the agreement of using this (or any) theme is that you do not remove or alter the copyright (translating it however is another thing entirely)

so sorry, not to be rude, but no one is going to help you to remove the copyright other than the theme creator if they agree to that and that would be between you two

I would suggest pming sycho for help then

as, again, that is something that you two will need to discuss via pms, not publicly if that is something that Sycho agreed to
no one else will help you with removing the copyright as that goes against the theme license
QuoteBut you may not remove the author's copyrights; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.

SychO - neat work on this theme.

Decided to grab it a couple of days ago and released it as an optional theme for my members.

Unfortunately, I believe a portion of the "theme settings" section is missing - namely, the bit that specifies which membergroups are allowed to use the theme ("theme permissions").

The result of not having that section is a blank value is made in smf_themes (variable "viewgroups") whenever the settings page is changed/saved.

Overall effect is that function PickTheme in Themes.php gets no data from the "viewgroups" value, thereby denying anyone other than Admin the use of SunRise.

I can manually update the "viewgroups" with a list of membergroup numbers and that fixes it, until the SunRise settings page is used again.

2.0.18

Yea, it's a mod that conflicts with the theme: https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=264667.0, other users using the mod can apply the fix you posted which is cool, though it's not code that can be added to the theme by default.

Sorry for the message ...

I have been using your SUNRISE (2.0) Theme on : SMF 2.0.19
I Love it soooo much ! Everything seems to work great but ONE thing ...

When you get a private message ( like this )
Its shows you have a message < Good
You get a number count of how many messages < Good
You get a popup < Good

But when you read the message/s The Number count never goes down?
When you read the message .. I keeps showing you have un-read messages  :(

If I switch to the "stock theme" When you read a message count goes away.
see here we talk about this : https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=581154.0

Any Suggestions ?
Fixes ? or Is it Just me ?

THANKS !

Seems to be default behavior, it displays the total of messages when there are no new ones.
Yo can change it in the index.template.php

Code (Search) Select
if (allowedTo('pm_read'))
echo '
<li><a class="', $context['user']['unread_messages'] > 0 ? 'notice' : '', '" href="', $scripturl, '?action=pm">' . fontawesome('fas fa-envelope') . ' ', $context['user']['unread_messages'] > 0 ? '<span class="newNumber">'.$context['user']['unread_messages'].'</span> '.$txt['new_messages'] : $txt['messages'].' ('.$context['user']['messages'].')', '</a></li>';

Code (Replace) Select
if (allowedTo('pm_read'))
echo '
<li><a class="', $context['user']['unread_messages'] > 0 ? 'notice' : '', '" href="', $scripturl, '?action=pm">' . fontawesome('fas fa-envelope') . ' ', $context['user']['unread_messages'] > 0 ? I hadn't seen that as it's a paid theme so it's not listed in the "customization" section of the SMF site. Looks like it isn't available for sale anymore though. I did notice that the theme author (SychO) has another similar theme available which I'd previously ignored as I didn't see there was a dark mode toggle on it.
