Title: what is SM's "Profile > Account Settings > SSH Public Key" option for ?
Post by: aegersz on October 17, 2018, 12:49:48 PM
my profile here has something that my forum's profile doesn't have and it caught my attention.

Profile > Account Settings > SSH Public Key: "Please enter here your SSH public key. For help generating a key, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ssh-keygen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ssh-keygen)"

should I be using this and what does it offer me, please ? I took the link but it only explained SSH keys to me and I already use them when logging in to my various systems.

No, you shouldn't be using it. It's primarily for the developers to sign their commits.

no it is not, it is for access to the SM hosted git repo. only team members have such access.

Uh, how else would it work without signing? That's the entire point here...
