There is not 2.1 Beta 4 released, so I'm going to assume you're downloading it from GitHub. Did you download the latest download available from our GitHub?

I don't think "name_color" is a default field, it was probably added by a mod

could be a previous mod you had installed that you deleted.

1- that error is not going to cause your users to be unable to register.
2- did you upgrade from 2.0.x with some mods (I suspect, yes)
-- if so, then the error, like all of the others of the same sort is due to the mod/mySQL. You can either fix it by updating mySQL, turning off Strict mode...    or setting the default value for that  column in the database.

3- Regarding your actual problem.

What is your forum URL?
Did you install the LATEST version from GitHub (as in, the build from yesterday?)

Got your smf_members table the column name_color?

can we please stop focusing on the minor issue that is not related to the main problem at all?

Besides, I've already told him how to fix that

And what is the main problem?
The list of mods is empty in his screenshot.

Since he use 2.1 is the disabling of strict mode in mysql not a option.

Reason why i asked for the columns in his members table.

In 2.1 you can look at the backtrace of a error,
see the yellow area in the pic.

The list of mods might be empty, but he had a mod at some point.
And, regardless of turning off strict mode or not, I also told him how to fix it, by assigning a default value.

And the real issue... completely unrelated to the error in the log which everyone has fixated on, is the inability to register

I wouldn't be so sure it's unrelated, why are you?
If registration stops to a database error, and logs an error referring to Subs-Members, I would easily think those two are related.

My first guess would be, a mod added a field, and as long as the mod was installed the field got filled properly during registration of a new member. When the mod was uninstalled, the field was not removed, didn't have a default value, and now registration fails because of this.

I would also guess the culprit to be a mod that is no longer supported, namely Glow And Color Title V2 (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3179)

EDIT: And yes, incomplete removal of that mod stops registrations, we have earlier topics on that too.
Perhaps this was installed in a 2.0 installation before it was upgraded? Though, the mod package does install on 2.1 too.

Add a default value to the fields, or if you don't need them anymore - remove them.
