Title: Problem with yabb 1.54 and now maybe this one
Post by: loudog on August 09, 2003, 02:22:26 AM
On my yabb forum, I have problems with nefirms sendmail, as new AOL seems to consider netfirms sendmail spam, thus people never get their passwords. So I changed to allow them to pick there own, so they can log in, but will likely never get the email including it as a reminder. Now with forum, it seems you have to confirm your user ID, well if that's the case, then anyone will AOL will not be able to use my site, or likely any site using sendmail, since they won't get my email. Along with that, my SMPT host won't alow me to use the yabb set up either, so I have to use sendmail. Trust me I've always thought AOL was garbage, but alot of people still like to pay twice as much for internet access. PS, I like this very much, all we need is a converter, and I'm all for it :D

You can turn it off just as with YaBB SE.  I also don't recommend the use of hosts like netfirms.

They block email from them for good reason - people sign up and spam with them all the time.

As an anti spam measure AOL is now blocking mail from any e mail that doesn't have a reverse dns thingy.(Almost sounded like I knew what the hell I was repeating, until the 'thingy' slipped out)

Thats what they say in my argosoft logs, anyway.

So get reverse DNS.  I have a friend who runs a dingy old server (with Argosoft, too...) and it can mail anywhere just fine....
