Title: Emojis
Post by: natcip on February 22, 2019, 02:58:11 PM
Hi 🙂
I noticed that my forum can't show unicode emojis. When users paste them into the reply editor they show up, but in the final post they're replaced with question marks.

The database is set to utf8mb4_unicode_ci, btw

What version of SMF are you using?

And is your SMF in UTF-8 mode?

SMF does not, in 2.0 anyway, require utf8mb4 tables to handle emoji, and unless you installed SMF in UTF-8 mode, doing the conversion yourself may have caused other damage.

Thanks for the reply Arantor

Nevermind, I just found and then ran the "convert to UTF-8 characters" task in the Forum Maintenance / Database section (it was set on ISO). Emojis show up now! I wasn't aware there was a feature for this right in the SMF Admin Panel. *blushes*
