Anyone using Tapatalk and the associated phone apps. Just curious if any good, personally never used the phone app as put off by the adverts so curious if using it what the general opinion is rather than what the tapatalk website promotes.
Any info or guidance appreciated.
Do you mean in relation to using it with an SMF forum or just in general?
It doesn't respect your settings and on multiple occasions has proven a vulnerability for your site. Additionally, it makes rival forums easily findable.

Relation to smf, yes, but general info is also good. :D

Ok so the potential for increased security risk. that's not so good. Already had a bad experience with coin mining hack and spam user posting. Thankfully nothing recently.
Forum is a specific football (sports) fans site, so as far as I am aware, it's unique in that regards. There are of course general or multi-team forums which are highly popular. I was actually thinking the reverse it may even make my forum accessible and provide some additional traffic.
You will probably soon find that most people here have little positive to say about Tapatalk.
I use Tapatalk only for the push notifications for when a post of mine was quoted, mentioned, or if I got a PM. The notifications usually work, sometimes it acts up and it doesn't show.
The other benefit is that you can directly attach photos without size limits (I personally don't use it for that).
That is the only thing I use it for. Which in my opinion is very important.
There is a mod for push notifications now but the forum I'm part of was made before that was made and won't be updated. And the general way that forum operates is it relies on quotes to indicate your replying to a person. That mod doesn't support choosing what to get notified for.
Tapatalk has allowed spammers to bypass forum registration settings. It replaces some key SMF files with it's own variants, which can interfere with future forum updates. I've worked on a couple of forums that were trashed when Tapatalk didn't uninstall cleanly. I wouldn't touch it with along stick. :P
I'm with Sir Liver on this.
I had Tapatalk installed, and I had more spammers allowed in, never had to admit them, they just came in like the door was wide open..
Do yourself a favour stay clear of them.
Thanks for the feedback, will give it a miss for the moment.
