Does anybody have a specific default image size that works for them when posting topics to FB or Twitter? Seems it's hit or miss whenever I post to either social media platform. Almost all the time Twitter posts the generic "no image" image next to the post. FB typically posts whatever image it finds first on the site more often than not, which is my menu "home" icon instead of choosing the first image in the topic post.
I've tried everything and have no consistency whatsoever. Does anybody use a specific default image size for topic posts that works ALL the time for both?

I would use like an open graph mod like optimus brave. It sets the correct open graph tags for topics/posts.

I'm using that. I have both my open graph and twitter app ID's set to it and have always. I have a wordpress site too and I have the OG and App ID's for that site configured in the SEO mod there. Every single post posts with the image correctly every time.

Actually, I sometimes post topics from my forum on FB and this has never happened to me ???. Yes, it picks the first pics it can find, but only from the topic, not from the site/forum.
But, if you're referring to attachments, yes, it doesn't work with attachments :-\.
Facebook used to post my attachments, Twitter never does. Very strange how picks and chooses with SMF, but with Wordpress it always takes the post image on both FB and Twitter.
Well, it doesn't work with attachments on my forum... maybe because I've got thumbnails disabled, so it doesn't actually recognize the attachments as media files... don't know.

I'm using Dougiefresh's inline image attachments mod. I actually insert the images sometimes when I don't have the time to upload them to my server.
Can you share link to a topic or post that does not get shared correctly.

This OG stuff is totally beyond my understanding. Take a search on Google regarding Open graph grabbing the wrong image, there's a multitude of articles on there about this. How you get around it though I'm not sure.. Hopefully someone here will come up with a solution.

But the weird thing is, I can make that same post on my wordpress site and the image will post to both Twitter and FB fine.

Correct, optimus makes you use an OG image path in the settings. It will default to that or the "Home" icon on my site menu when FB doesn't recognize the first image in a topic. Which is almost every single time. Check this link, this does work on both FB and Twitter. It's so strange because it's like they pick and choose when they want to post a topic image. But like I said, my wordpress site ALWAYS posts the featured image, every single time. I've never had a post to FB or Twitter not post the image.

And unfortunately Optimus is the only SEO mod there is for SMF which Bugo seems to have distanced himself from almost entirely. If not entirely.
I made a post today and posted to both Twitter and FB, low and behold the images work. So frustrating.
