Hello all,
I had a bunch of spam problems over at http://libertarianchat.com/ (http://libertarianchat.com/), so I installed the following anti-spam measures:
- reCAPTCHA for SMF
- Bad Behavior mod
- Akismet Spam Blocking
Along with the manual activation of the honey pot network.
Users notified me, and I can confirm, that it looks like there are spam posts building up in the General Forum, which I can access by clicking on the latest topic. But when I open the General Discussion forum there are no posts there? Also, when posting a new topic to any forum, I am bought to a blank page. Another user claims he is getting a duplicate post message when trying to post a topic the second time, but it doesn't appear to be accessible. All in all, something is definitely wrong. Has anyone experienced this before and knows where to start?
That does look rather off, especially as the last post does show. Have you tried removing those mods one by one to see if the situation improves?
That might help to narrow down exactly which of those three is causing the problem. :)
Note that it's recommended to make a backup before making changes.
Akismet is known to cause issues on many systems...
honestly, I don't think it's a valuable mod anyway. Just stop the spammers from registering in the first place with a good set of 20-30 questions.
