as an admin I should have all permissions correct?
I have 3 boards that I can not access
staff chat, women's chat, and men's chat
on the boards themselves
Allowed Groups:
Groups allowed to access this board.
Note: if the member is in any group or post group checked, they will have access to this board. Guests
Regular Members
Global Moderator
Female
Male
for staff I only have global moderators checked
for women's I only have female's checked
and for men's I only have male's checked
I am an admin and also in the female member group...
there is no options on the boards to for admins or moderators, I'm assuming because these two have full access regardless
but it appears that I do not...
and even though I am in the female member group I still get 403 Access denied as well as on the other boards
Admins, out of the box, have every possible permission.
What mods do you have?

Why do you have Breeze and Ajax profile comments installed if those do similar things.
Surprised the forum works at all with that many mods. If the problem appeared recently, you'd have to work back from most recently installed mods one at a time until you find the one that caused it, or restore the package backups in sequence. No guarantee that would work, as a conflict or manual edit may have broken code that will remain after uninstall/restore.
So many mods that I don't believe are useful or necessary.

do they? I don't know :p if they do then I'll remove the ajax profile comments...
I may have added a few that were similar, I tried not to but....

unfortunately I'm not sure when the problem started, only noticed it today....really not looking forward to starting over from scratch

a few may be not needed but installed just in case if later on decided that it may be useful... would rather do it all now before the board goes live then try to add things in later and have it all go crazy with members active....
was hoping someone could point me in the general direction, though i'm still not used to smf so I may need a bit more than general direction on how to fix it...
with so many mods it is hard to tell what may cause this issue.
usually it is better to start with fewer mods and add what is only necessary as time goes on. you may not even need most of what you have installed.
so i'm comparing my files with vanilla files... what file should I be looking at for issues? which file handles permissions or whatnots?
I checked sources/load.php but don't think that is where the problem is....
Load.php is where the permissions and board access is loaded and set up, though...

yeah that's kind of what I thought.... I don't know...
if you or someone can take a look at it, thank you
in the time you have been waiting, you could have loaded fresh files, fixed the issue and started to reinstall the mods you require.
I don't know if anyone really has the time to look into fixing this and possibly breaking some of the mods you have installed due to this.

I did put a copy of the load.php from the install into my files and still the issue was there, so I'm not sure...
I'm still searching through files to figure it out but if i'm not able to and no one is able to help, then thank you I will just start from scratch, this time being sure to check the admin forums, whereas before I was just checking the main forums to see if they loaded and members list/profiles as those were where most errors occurred
take a look at https://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/How_to_upload_a_fresh_set_of_files
we always recommend testing things out before installing many mods, that way if something breaks it is easier to figure out what broke it.
also we recommend doing a backup before you install each mod, this way you can revert back if an issue happens.

Seriously? (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thekrashsite.com%2Fpics%2Ffp.gif&hash=d0889cee6120d0a650f84d729e497abcf6c7e975) Installing a lot of crap on a new forum is a really poor way to start.
After uploading clean files, you'll need to run fix_packages.php (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Manually_setting_a_package_installed_or_uninstalled) to set all mods uninstalled and remove hooks, and you'll have to manually remove pretty urls code from
.htaccess.

installing them on a live board would be better?
thank you for that file, it was very helpful....
anyways I figured it out
started over from scratch this time making sure to test everything on the forum before continuing, not just the posts, profiles and member pages (which is where most errors occurred)
it's the pretty urls that was causing the problem

thank you :)
Don't know why people keep installing pretty urls, or why it's even still on the mod site. It's a useless mod, and has trashed quite a few forums, several of which I've worked on. Bear in mind when installing mods that they've all been checked individually by customization team for basic functionality and adherence to coding guidelines, but that's it. Some are buggy or just poorly designed, many are nothing more than silly gimmicks, and if you install a lot of them, they can damage core code and conflict with each other with unpredictable results. You need to be selective and exercise some restraint in choosing mods. Most important things on any forum are interesting content, simple navigation, and clear presentation. You don't need a lot of mods to accomplish that.
